Men can't give complete baths?

This topic came up today at work. Apparently our management has decided to no longer allow the male staff to give complete baths to female patients. In other words, if all of a male CNA's patients are women, the next shift is then stuck with all the baths? Yet women can still bathe both men and women.

I was just wondering if anyone else has had this policy in their workplace and how it was made to work out fairly. Thoughts and opinions?

Unless someone is SO completely confused they cannot bathe themselves, they most certainly can wash parts of themselves....I will NOT do what you CAN do. You are here to get better, not lose all ability...

Oiiiiiiiii Oiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Oiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii that management decision will come back and bite them. For a start it is sexist and demeaning.

Makes no difference who is doing the hygiene. They are there to do their job and that includes bathing.

The bottom line is that the female patients are the one's that will suffer not getting decent hygiene care.

They are setting a very dangerous precident.

I wonder what they are basing their decision on?

Never heard of this.......Most of the CNAs in the nursing home where I used to work were male. imagine if they wouldn't have been able to give baths!

i can't imagine the hospital implementing a new policy, w/o the hospital lawyers reviewing it first.

it must be legal, although i have no idea as to why.

This doesn't really mean anything...there wouldn't be any discrimination lawsuits if having a lawyer review meant anything at all...
