Memorial Sloan Kettering Salary

Published

Hello! I'm a new grad nurse who just accepted a position at Memorial Sloan Kettering! I was wondering if anyone knew if the salary offer included night shift differential already at MSKCC.

They didn't mention any differential or give me any more information about it and I'm so uncomfortable asking about money!

It seemed like the salary offer was a lot but after talking with my friends who accepted positions in other hospitals, my offer was about 10k or so less than theirs after calculating their night shift differential increase.

Thank you!

You'll only be certain if you contact the recruiter, to be honest. They are used to such questions so they won't judge you for clarifying.

If you want the job regardless of whether or not the night shift differential is included, then just sit tight and enjoy your new role!

I worked at MSK many moons ago and started there about 10 years ago. When I was hired onto an inpatient unit, I was hired for nights but my salary offered was reflective of my daytime salary and did not include the differential.

The differential was added when I actually went to nights on my paychecks, after being oriented and spending a bit of time on days. No idea if it still works that way though. So my base salary was what was the offical rate of pay. The night diff was added on each paycheck reflective of the hours I worked overnight.

Good luck--it's a marvelous organization to work for.

How do you like working there

Hi, I accepted an offer last month :) It’s a 10% night differential + a 10% weekend differential. MSK offers one of the (if not the most) competitive salaries in the NYC hospital systems. Hope this helps.

Wow that blows away Mount Sinai we have no differential on weekends and a three dollar night time differential

Hi @Kimcheeee and @NavyJules

Congrats on your offers and new jobs! Would you mind sharing what nursing schools you attended? I am in the middle of my BSN and wondering what schools MSKCC recruits from. Thanks so much!

I got my accelerated nursing degree from NYU. At the end of the day, the school you went to doesn’t matter as your personal hustle. Connections are 90% of the battle. I got my first nursing job through a new grad immersion program that was being hosted by my club professor. And then for my MSK position, I was referred by an NP I had worked with previously. if you don’t have strong connections or referrals yet, I’d highly recommend picking up a part time patient care tech position while you’re in school if you have the time for it. Try to pick a hospital you want to work at so that you have your foot in the door.

That's awesome! Thanks a lot for the advice and insight. I had actually started looking into Patient Care Tech positions for the Spring and Summer semesters. Congrats again & best of luck!

Hi @Kimcheeee! And congrats on your new position! Would you mind sharing how was the interview process at MSK? I will be applying soon to a position there but I’ve heard it can be difficult to get in.
Thanks! And best of luck!

@Mariale I applied online / had a strong referral. Talent Acquisition reached out via email and we set up a phone call. Had a casual discussion, and she sent my resume out to a few nurse leaders. Had 1 interview in-person with my nurse leader and then got an offer same day. Good luck!! :)

What is the base pay at MSK?

Hey!! I have an interview Monday with the nurse manager of a unit at MSK. I don’t know how to DM you but am interested in your experience so far, and also wanted to know about what the base pay is for the new hires. I have 6 months of experience but am still going to be in the residency program if I’m offered the job. I have a good feeling about it and hope the NM likes me enough to give me a chance
