Just making a thread for Memorial Hermann's Graduate Nurse Residency program for Spring 2018, so we can keep each other updated on our process. Started filling out my application today! Super excited and totally nervous already :/
Can someone explain to me what happens at match day?
Hi, so I actually attended Match Day at TMC back in June and I remember freaking out about it because I had no idea what to expect. I came across this thread and am going to share my experience, I hope it helps.
Match Day is an all day interviewing event, and while not everyone, some people may have to be there all day. Registration began at 7AM. They divided us up in large groups A, B, C, or D...which depended on who was there first, so the earlier you were in line the faster you'd be able to interview. We were lead into a conference room where they gave us a light breakfast. At 8AM all of the hiring managers gave presentations about their units and you were able to learn more about every one. You wait in the conference room until a recruiter comes for you. The recruiter takes 3 people at a time interviewing for the same unit and you all interview together. For the most part there were 3 candidates and 3 managers interviewing for every unit at a time.
I was third in line at registration and was there from 7AM to 11AM but I had a friend who was there from 7AM to 3PM. The time you wait also depends on how many people are interviewing for the unit you want, so it's a good idea to prepare to be there all day because you won't know when you'll be done. Now this was my experience for Match Day at Memorial Hermann-TMC and Children's...idk if it's the same at the other campuses.
I was just going based that its been almost 30 days and after the 13th marker and I have not received a email or anything since I applied. My first choice moved to an "in Review" phase about 21 days ago and has sat there every since so I just figured they are not interested in me. No rejection has come across the applications or anything but neither have they progressed as well.
How do you know that means it's a no go? Which one means that it's rejected? The "review" or the "applied." I'm a bit confused.

Thank you for all of this! Did you get hired?
I am sorry about the confusion. I was the one who said that they were supposed to let us know about Match Day by the 13th, because that's what my recruiter told me in her email. Since getting the nurse residency questions from her, I have not heard anything at all. So for those who have not heard still...please don't lose hope.
I applied to TMC and Memorial City and I would be graduating with an ADN so I am already wanting to give up, but God can do anything!!!
Anyway, if anyone hears about Match Day please let us know on this thread so our hope can be reignited! I am thinking at least one or two people on here should hear about Match day. If no one on here has heard, then maybe they haven't sent out invitations yet?
Thank you so much, this was so helpful! Was it just the one interview on match day or was it a series of interviews? Was it mainly behavioral questions or specific clinical situation based questions?

Well I think for most units it was just that one interview. Other units had two interviews. Don't quote me on this but I think the NICU people had two interviews. You kind of got a little of everything...I got a clinical question, questions talking about yourself, why you want to work there and things like that. Also, ask questions at the end, they like that.
Guys! I got an email from Memorial Hermann today. I don't know if anyone else got this email too. I have copied and pasted it below. Hope it helps to calm us down a bit.
"Good afternoon,
I wanted to give you the update that the Nursing Leaders were out at a conference all last week and have still not had the chance to review the applications and decide who they would like to invite to Match day. I apologize for the delay. I hope to hear more by tomorrow and will give you another update as soon as possible.
Thank you so much for your patience.
Warm regards,"

The Magnet campuses (Memorial Hermann-TMC, Memorial City, and Woodlands) typically only hire BSN. I'm not sure if Cypress is Magnet or not.
