Paco- you still get all the 411! I love it! I have not been on this thread since a little bit after I was rejected for the 2 year BSN program. I am waitlisted for the one year and wanted to see if anyone was called off list, and low and behold, you come through with some info! I clearly know it doesn't mean I am in, but interesting that you know of these people who are not going. DId they let SB know yet? If so, does any person out ther who came off wait list know if SB calls as soon as they are notified? I was accepted into SCCC and am ok with it, bc it is a spot. However, to earn a BS in one year as opposed to an AS in two years would be the way to go!!! WOW!

You are definitely the most deserving/qualified candidate I have heard of that did not get accepted. My apologies. Again, we don't know their reasoning. I am not a negative person, but let's be honest here, what would you(could you) have done differently? I would say nothing! I also can empathize with you about working so hard to mainitain an outstanding GPA, volunteering, having fabulous references, a kicking essay....and others that with less/missing piece(s) get in? I am very disheartened about this process. I also don't understand how I was waitlisted for the one year and rejected for the two?
I hope(know) things will work out for us all in the end. This is just a bump in the road, and eventually we all will get to that place we all deserve!

QTJOEL- Congrats on your acceptance! Did you have volunteer experience? Who did you have reccomend?(teachers/employers)? I just want to know what to do better on my next application to Stonybrook. I am asking b/c I think that others that were denied, like myself, had 3.9/4.0 science gpa. and also had micro completed, as well as extra curricular experience.

I think you're in. Look at the tab that says view decision response click on that. Congratulations!!!

Believe it or not, I am concerned about getting accepted to SCCC nursing as well. That also is very competitive. My friend applied to the night program with a 3.9 and was waitlisted (and never ended up getting called) and another friend had 4.0 going for LPN to rn and she was waitlisted. Nothing is a sure thing. Did the people who were denied get a letter in the mail? Also, was all documentation submitted on time? Trying to narrow done why. When everyone has gotten an answer, I want to put in a call to try and find out what to do better possibly for next time.

I definitely don't feel old at all...I am very athletic and my teenagers keep me young! I have no desire to do anything but nursing at this point; it is where my heart is for sure. But the fact is, the time line for me to become an RN and bring in a salary for my family is now. If this was at a different stage of life I would not feel so badly. I had to be strong and positive in front of my kids in order to be a good example for them. Unfortunatley, my daughter is bound to get rejection letters from colleges next year. I want her to know that it is ok, to stay positive, and that if her first choice doesn't work out, that she will have a back up plan like myself. It is just tough when you put your heart and soul into grades, essay, and shining reccomendations, and then rejection??

To make a very sad day even worse, my daughters and son opened the tab and I got rejected! I am waitlisted for the one year, so I was thinking this was going to be it. I don't know what to think. I have 3 A's and 1 B+ in my science prerequesites, polished up my essay, had all 3 recommendations from my science prof.(of which I got A's), and am currently a full time student taking courses I would need to fulfill the 2 year requirement that are not in my original BS degree (BTW I am currently pulling a 4.0 in them). I am waiting to hear from SCCC for their program, but that was plan C. I am too old for this to go on forever before i recieve a BSN. I am 42 have 3 kids, one of which needs me to have a salary to help with college tutition in 2012. Totally bummed. I am thinking maybe there was something to eliminate us immediately from the pool and that's why we were denied immediately?

I just got my answer..waitlisted.. I am so upset.... Do you think it was better odds of getting in if I was waitlisted a few weeks ago or now?Honest answers!!!

Glad to hear you got in. Thank you for being supportive. I still see no new tabs on solAR...what time did you guys hear?

I still haven't heard...Anyone else out there in limbo like me still?????

I still haven't yet....It is so frustrating. I spoke to someone from the nursing dept who said we should hear by the end of this week. I wonder why we haven't heard a thing??I asked if that meant waitlist, and she said she doesn't know the procedure for when they notify of accepts/rejects/waitlist. I was hoping that girl that works in the building and had a doctor friend asking to find out if she was accepted in January was around this thread to let us know.

when you go to nursing page, go to prospective students link. info on the i year accelerated and 2 year bs program is there. we are referring to stonybrook's solar system, which is where our aceptance oe rejection is posted. This is how we are notified.

I'm sorry to hear you both weren't accepted. I just got off phone with them and they say maybe by end of the week the rest of us will hear.
