Totally agree with all of the responses. I think I have all of those.
BTW...the Harriet Lane is "THE" reference of the peds floor.
Have you checked out what hospitals pay???
I would think that you would make more in a hospital than a SNF.
Seems weird to me.....but I haven't checked out the pay of a LPN.
How about staff relief (per diem) at a hospital....that pays more than staff...and maybe you could just do a day or two a week.
Got my flu shot on Wednesday.
The guy was awesome!!!
Didn't feel it, didn't hurt afterward.
Good Luck with your interview. Let us know how it goes.
I don't think the vomitting is a rota issue. However, it sounds like she is probably not being overly careful with hygiene between the twins. I know it must be hard with 2 babies....but it will keep going back and forth. The vimitting could be a reflux issue, if she is not keeping the baby upright long enough. Is the ng in the proper placement. If still vomiting, sounds like it shound be advanced to an ND.
Congratulations on surviving.
Keep the positive outlook...it helps.
Always think of mistakes as learning. You know what mistake was made, just be vigilant now not to do the same. You are new and scared and it is normal.
I agree with the advice from the above posters too.
Broward General does. I'm not sure about Holy Cross.
A little bit south is Plantation General (kind of small) and Memorial (Regional, West and Miramar have OB). If nothing else, Google the names and check.
We always do heelsticks for bili levels.
I too, am an addict. I love back to school shopping...so that I can justify buying. Not for my boys. For me.
Don't think I am going to attend one of those quickie inservices without a gift. Those "fools" have the nerve to try to buy me off with a piece of candy. NO WAY!! I want a pen. No pen...no time. If they tell me they only have candy...I ask them what THEY are writing with. I won't steal from fellow nurses, but everyone else better watch out.
I also have an unhealthy love of dry erase markers (which we use at work).
we get paid nothing for being on call (which is a sore spot with dh). to get around any legalities of it, they don't call it "on call" anymore...they call it pla...paid leave available.
is a pct a pt care tech?? if it is, i don't know if you need any college credits for that. it is the equivilent to a nursing assistant in my hospital. i have never heard of the school you wrote about. is it an accredited school?? i live in hollywood. i would suggest trying to get into miami dade or bcc. if that isn't an option, some of the girls i work with went through the lpn program at sheridan tech. when i went to miami dade, i remember miami lakes tech having an lpn program. maybe try those.
good luck in your pursuit of your rn.heartbeat:heartbeat
where are you moving from??
i am a born and raised south floridian, but i don't know if i would voluntarily move down here.
the price of living and the cost of housing is outragious. traffic is a nightmare.
if you are moving to miami, you better speak spanish (we have a very large hispanic population). speaking spanish will make it much easier to get a job.
i have never worked psych...so i can't really speak to the job availability for psych nurses.
let me know if you decide to move down here...i'll see what kind of info that i can get you. heartbeat:heartbeat
All experiences are good experiences.
Glad you're coming back to peds.
