  1. Jefferson - Low EFC but has to pay 16k?

The maximum Pell grant that anyone can receive this year is $6095, regardless of your school, and honestly with an EFC of 98 instead of 0, you're talking about a difference of $50 or less. I can't speak for loans that your school offers, but the fede...
  2. How to pay for school

Look into the NurseCorps HRSA scholarship. If you are interested in working in a designated shortage area or institution, and demonstrate financial need. It is highly competitive but I believe it pays full tuition, in exchange for working in a desi...
  3. Chamberlain 2018 Miramar

Before the appointment just make sure your FAFSA is done. During your pre-enrollment appointment, your advisor will go over all your financial aid options and will give you a to-do list and important dates. The drug test is a urine test.
  4. If you go back to school half-time your loans will go back into deferment (assuming you took out federal loans)
  5. What kind of loans for CRNA school?

I would pick the GradPlus over the private loans, they are federal loans and interest paid on them can be used as a deduction for tax purposes. You can't do that with private loans.
  6. Bizarre Co-Worker Rant!

Great point! I will look into doing that, not sure how to. I will say that is the only part of my real name that I used, and it's an extremely common last name.
  7. Bizarre Co-Worker Rant!

My last name is a first name too (Lee) and I knew what I was getting into when I got married and took his name. I get called Lee all the time at work and we are all on a first name basis. I have learned to laugh it off to myself instead of getting o...
  8. Student Loans

Have you applied to your nursing program yet? When you are ready to apply, ask to speak to financial aid before you do. Some schools offer their own scholarships but they base their eligibility on your FAFSA. Schools are required by law to let you...
  9. ABSN Programs and Financial Aid Help!!

It sounds like you may be approaching the federal loan limit of $57500 but I would suggest using these loans first before trying for private loans. Also look like crazy for scholarships. If you have to do the loan route, keep your eye open for an e...
  10. Schools grading scale

This is actually quite common. And most likely you were given this information during the admissions process. Schools typically require you to agree to abide by school policies as part of the registration process, you probably did sign something. ...
  11. Not sure how to deal with this future classmate...

One more idea, a friend of mine did this when she was a bartender and obviously worked around drunk guys. Find a convincing yet inexpensive wedding/engagement/promise ring and wear it. (Make sure your boyfriend knows why!) This may not help the cu...
  12. Not sure how to deal with this future classmate...

Like others have said keep everything he sends you just in case the school would need to be involved with it later. I do think it's okay when you pick classes, to respectfully ask your advisor to place you in class/clinical that he isn't placed in w...
  13. Entering as Part-Time Student???

Have you spoken with an advisor? S/he should be able to give you general information. I don't think all classes are offered every 8 weeks so there may be a limit to how much you can spread it out. Are you planning to use financial aid? If so, don...
  14. I failed out of nursing school midway, now what?

Once you have it figured out, can you appeal for reinstatement?
  15. Are anti-vaccine people conspiracy theorists generally?

In my case it isn't conspiracy theory but the way I was raised. My family is of the Christian Scientist faith, so I grew up receiving minimal medical care and my parents challenged our school for every vaccine, because vaccines go against this churc...
