Hi baros08, yes you are eligible to apply AHPRA with that work experience. I too had work experience from 2007 to 2009 and I was granted eligible to undertake bridging program in australia. I think the acceptable gap is less than 5years.

I think I'll have to decide this week if I'll take ARNTP in April... As of the moment, I'm focusing on tomorrows AAON phone interview... Have you decided in which school you'll go? Do you have any idea on how many slots does ARNTP accepts? thanks!

How are you going to market yourself to an employer? with 3 years break.

The job situation is getting very tight. Locals that have gone on maternity leave of 2-3 years are having difficulty getting work, even part-time.

I am not trying to conquer 'dreams'' but even all aplicants, new grad and those without recent experience, get some local recent experience at home first is better than saying to employer...haven't any nursing experience in over 3 years.

This is another reason why this loan companies are increasing experience years and recent by applicants as the applicants were not getting work and therefore unable to pay their loans.

The moral of the story is,.....do not take out loans against family businesses or homes or from families as they may not get their money back and be prepared not to find work for many months or perhaps not at all. You do not hear the stories of the nurses that go home after not finding work, they do not post of their experience.

You will hear of lovely stories that nurses are being employed by their clinical placements, etc, and there are advertisements by agencies, but you will find this was 1-2 years ago and/or these nurses have had recent experience in a field required by an employer or they were in the 'know' so to speak, or and this happens a lot with one culture of nurses....they are telling you stories to 'big note' themselves.

If you have not one of these it will be difficult to find an employer willing to sponsor a full time job to overseas nurses with no experience or experience 3 years ago, or have only clinic experience.

hi, my ielts expired on july 2012, can I still use it to apply for a bp? or schools will just ask me to retake it?

Demand is quite high on AHPRA offices, since the economic crises, in Europe, USA, UK, nurses from many countries are wanting assessment from AHPRA, particularly since the USA have denied international nursing degrees, Australia is now the target. It may take sometime yet. An email would not hurt though.

Do you have links to posts with regard to Filipinos who have failed to pass BP in Australia, because I am really curious about it since I don't seem to find any threads on Filipinos failing the BP. Maybe we can learn from them. thanks.

At no time did I say anyone failed the BP, posts by Joeimike about 6 months ago stated that there were several students in their group that were very poor in english skills and were well known for this and had been pulled aside re their grammar past/future tenses leading to much miscommunication .....passed a bp course. btw they were not from the Phillipines.

I did find months ago, a public, not private, bp provider stated over the years, 2-3 nurses had failed their course....cannot find it now, put down to them never having worked as an RN and/or long time since graduation and one that had worked as a lecturer for many years but had never worked in a hospital.

I stated that getting a full time job without any experience or very little and/or years gap in experience, it will be difficult to find a job, not failing the bp.

Apparently not because AHPRA requires valid IELTS..

Schools also require valid IELTS.. However, some schools, they have programs you need to take during your course if you were not able to meet their English criteria.. But then again, you still need to retake IELTS for you to be able to apply and assessed by AHPRA..
