MedStar Washington Job

U.S.A. Washington DC

Updated:   Published

Hello everyone, I am very interested in working at MedStar Washington on the stroke unit with the new grad program. Does anyone have any information whatsoever about this unit? For example, is it a difficult unit to work in? How is the staff and teamwork? What are the true nurse to patient ratios? Is it a good environment? Also, what happens if you do not get a DC license before start date? Thank you very much for your input.

I actually can't remember the percentage tbh. :( about 50 cent increase the first year though

Is it a 2-yr commitment or 12-months for the new grad program at Medstar WHC?

It's 18 months after completion of residency í ½í¸

Thanks chineye! I'll be working on 4F! I finally have my test date, though the earliest I could get was less than two weeks before the start date, I hope that isn't too close! How about you?

Specializes in NICU.

Thanks, no, it was at Sibley.

BSNhopeful88 congratulations!, what unit did you get? I will be getting my license endorsed, Are you waiting on your ATT?

bcandygurl I just hope I can be endorsed by start date by the way was your interview at Providence, hope it well

I'm also two weeks from start date, I'll be in cardiovascular I think 4th floor as well

Heard its a nice place to work. How did it go? by the way what is their current starting rate?

The residency is 12 months? So then youll have to commit to another 18-months to that same unit or just any unit within hospital? Thanks!

And whats the starting pay for new grads at WHC?

@chineye BSN

I might be interviewing with cardio. Any advice on what I should review in prep of the clinical questions they will ask? Im so nervous!! :nailbiting:

For me, I did not go in prepping clinical questions. I was given scenarios and asked what would I do for the patient, and was told I did excellent and was given an offer on the spot, this method has worked for me as I have received other offers. Relaxation and the right attitude is key, good luck. Trust me by the time you are done with it, you will realize how easy it was

Thanks chineye, but I get very anxious if I do not prepare. Were the questions very basic or require some good knowledge about cardio?

For me I would say some were basic and some had average knowledge about cardio
