What are your interests? A nursing background can be related to all fields of medicine. I am not sure I really understand the question well. Are you a nurse or planning to go into nursing and then go the medical route? Do you really want to go into that much debt? or go to school for that many years? Where are you in the decision process?

You have to go to med school and rotate through all the specialties just like all the other med students, interns and residents. Being a nurse beforehand gives you an edge because you already have the experience communicating with patients and other staff. Just like when figuring your nursing specialty, you had to rotate through all of them and figure out what the best fit was. I know of a nurse who is now a cardiologist and one who is now an infectious disease specialist.
