These things should be written in your facilities policy & procedure manuals. However, it would be intresteds to hear what others say.

(Friendly note: Capitalizing the first letter of every word makes for a difficult read and I wouldn't recommend it. Thanks)

In answer to the timeline on medication dispensation, in my state it is regulated no earlier than 1 hour or 1 hour later than the MD order, thus the facility policy must be no longer. For wounds, there are many types as wellas treatments ranging to daily, multiple times a day, every other day and so on. In my clinical setting which often deals with aggressive short and long term treatments of wounds it is my responsibility to document wound healing and or lack of or complications that arise and inform the apropriate MD. Thus, the timeline to evaluate how the wound responds depends upon the wound itself, the treatment's ordered, the condition of the patient and a whole slew of enviromental factors. Now, having said all this, if you have concerns about your patients wound, speak up and out untill you receive feedback, it is your responsibility to advocate for your patient.

Specializes in jack of all trades, master of none.

Agree with checking your facility's Policy & Procedure manual, as well as your State's Nurse Practice Act re: medication administration guidelines.
