Medical Spanish Immersion

Published

Hey everyone!

I've been an RN for a little over a year and I want to take a month or so off and go somewhere to learn medical spanish.

I took spanish in high school but don't speak it very well. I'm looking for a 4 ish week spanish immersion program ideally that teaches medical spanish.

So far, Amerispan is my top choice. I'm very open to Latin America but I would love to go to Spain.

Does anybody have any suggestions or programs they like?

Thanks!!

Take a look at http://www.xelapages.com

Here you will find a list of Spanish immersion schools in Guatemala, some of which offer medical Spanish.

Thanks! I checked them out. I think I've decided I'm mostly interested in going Argentina or Costa Rica. Do you have any suggestions for those?

I'm going to Quetzeldenango Guatemala next month to study Spanish for 7 weeks then to Oaxaca Mexico for another week of Spanish lessons before heading to Mexico City to learn how to teach ESL.

I found Guatemala to be the most affordable for Spanish immersion.

I was in Costa Rica last year. I found it expensive and very Americanized. I certainly wouldn't go there to learn Spanish or live.

What a wonderful idea! I wish I had time to go abroad again.

I can't say that I know specific schools in those countries but my advice is that when you go, DEMAND to speak Spanish! People will want to speak English with you in order to practice but as long as you continue to reply in Spanish as much as possible, they will eventually revert to Spanish as well.

Have a wonderful, safe trip

Hey teddygrahm,

Did you ever end up going forth with a Spanish Immersion program? Any recommendations?

Thanks!
