I received a letter with information from this company looking for people to become "licensees" to do medical billing review for over/incorrect charges. This is something I have considered for a long time but never pursued. This company is based in Henderson NV and I can find nothing on the net about them other than their web page which has very little to go on.
They arrange for you to attend a presentation then have a Regional Manager meet with you to answer your questions. Their setup fee for computer and software and training is approx. $4000.00 which is reasonable if this is a viable company with good support, i.e. clients.
Anyone out there heard of these folks? Positives and negatives would be helpful.
Thanks in advance:yeah:

Thanks much, I have tried the BBB with no results, I guess I'll try the NV Attorney General office.

I know nothing about them....however, here is my take on it....
Most likely they will sell you a program to start your own business and they will train you on how to do it. Then after paying your $4K, getting your equipment all set and finish your training....you will be on your own to get 'clients.'
If there is a need for your services, I suspect you could do quite well. But, I would hesitate personally. Why? Because my sis-in-law paid for medical billing and coding...got the training....got the equipment....and then sought out clients. Everyone she contacted month after month said they already had someone handling that. She never did get one client. Wasted $.

thanks much. my concern exactly it what kind of assistance will they provide in finding business. i have been able to find some information on bbb and they have an a- rating with no complaints in past 3 years. i have also posted on a scam board looking for thoughts.
if they provide you with business then seems that it would be worthwhile investment. if you have to find you own, then i could do this on my own without the outlay of $ they are looking for.
thanks again for your input

I also received a letter from this company and did a little research on my own. When you call the phone number listed, your call goes to an answering company- they only answers phones (they are located in Las Vegas they said) they connect you to a voice mail line so you can have someone call you back. Before they transfered me they told me that the companyMedical Review Solutions, Inc. is located in Carlsbad, California. If your prefer You can fax the company your info. and then they can contact you.
When I called the Nevada Better Business Bureau they said this company was listed as a Computer Sales and service company, Go figure?
I was not able to get info from Carlsbad BBB because my guess is they are not listed in Carlsbad, or registered with any BBB that I could find. This is probably a company that wants to sell computers and this is a way to get you to buy one by starting a home based business since we are such smart nursing professionals!

I'm not personally familiar with this particular company. As far as I can tell they are located in Henderson, Nevada and they have a good rating with the BBB and are members in good standing of the Chamber of Commerce. When I checked they had been in business since 2002. From their website it appears they provide training and software to do medical bill review not just computers.
I do know people who are active in the various occuptions mentioned on this thread i.e. medical billing, medical bill review and medical coding. They all seem to be doing quite well.

I've been to their office in Henderson. One of their staff met me in the conference room. He answered my questions and gave me some literature to take home. Knowledgeable guy. Didn't end up buying it but I wanted to. My mom became terminally ill and needed my attention.

Ok, everyone is entitled to make a buck. Whether you need a $4000 computer system and software is another thing. Will the cost change if you use your hardware? Or, MUST YOU HAVE TO USE THEIR HARDWARE? Most insurance companies have their own review staff and preferred software if any. Your value comes from your knowledge of patient care. What the software does I dont know...But if a pregnancy test was ordered a male patient that would be a red flag. And a little mark on the invoce would be noted as an error. (How does the software do this?)
With many if not all claims being filed electronically there are many checks and balances to assure a "CLEAN" claim. If the claim or bill is clean it gets paid. I see the clinicians real value is with the patient. I have seen numerous tests ordered that were not done. Drugs given that were not ordered etc. If the patient is responsible for 20% of the medicare bill (MEDICARE APPROVED CHARGES) it would be beneficial to the fixed income patient to have their bill reviewed closely. AGAIN, what does the $4000 software do? If I sold 100 packages that would be $400,000...do the math and see who is really getting rich of the program. It would be interesting to see if they sold a support package for "upgrades" phone support, tech support etc... or is everything included in the $4000 and the company disappears.
One other thing to remember, OBAMA CARE is knocking at our back door and everything may change...If you have the DISPOSABLE income feel free to give it a try. I would ask for the comapny to give you REFERENCES of nurses that have been successful and those that have not.
On a final note the application is a Licensee Application. I am not sure what this means but it does not ask for any professional license information (I WOULD NEVER EVER GIVE THAT OUT) I can only assume that this is a software license agreement.
I bet many of you could do this in your own community and help out the elderly or Fixed income patients for free and be a hero. Yes, you are valuable, but why did you really get into your career field???? I bet your family could use a nice vacation on $4000.00.
31 years in the business of healthcare you learn how to do things and more importantly how NOT to do things.

I received an invitation from this company to attend a seminar. I'm going to check it out.
I'm tired of working on the floor (I guess I'm getting old) and maybe this is a way to stay in health care but do my own thing. We'll see.
IMHO $4000 is a reasonable amount if the software is a timesaver and they can get me jump started doing this. I'm a fan of the school of hard knocks but it's time consuming.

just paid the $3,500.00 (without the computer) for the "proprietary medical bill review and auditing system". I reviewed the (2) three ring binders (photo copied pages) and (3) dvd discs of "starting your own business" information, and (1) cd of the "software" without any explanation of how it works. The regional manager was the same person on the dvd videos without any audience. They do have a Nevada corp listed with that state. I have several phone calls into the company to help expain the "proprietary software" and provide examples of files reviewed and what to do. I am starting to feel kinda sick......... will keep you informed if they provide the program information needed to do a file review with their (my) software.........

I've been using their software for over two years and never had a problem with it. Whenever I have a question the company has always been responsive. I recommend emailing their support if you haven't already.
