Medgar Evers

Does anyone here attend medgar evars BSN program? How is it? I think I will apply, I don't want to travel to hunter to go to school, it's too far.

Specializes in Med-Surg.

I went into the bookstore after registering. They had the textbook but not the lab book. You can also call them to check before going in. I checked on the lab book the other day. They still didn't have it in.

Specializes in Pediatric Pulmonology and Allergy.

I had to buy the lab book; that is specifically for medgar. But the special chem book is just an abridged version of the regular textbook. Look up the title and the author's name, and order the regular textbook, for less than what you'd pay for medgar's special edition.

i might be attending medgar this spring 2011.. i completed all my pre req but my gpa isn't up to its standards. I was wondering if they would let me re take a few classes where i didn't do so well and hopefully try to get in... this is very stressful, and it is very hard to get into their program.

advice anyone?

I currently attend Medgar Evers college and I might say that it is not a bad environment. The only problem with the school is that they have a long waiting list for the LPN program. Everyone that attend that school either go there for nursing or education, so the program is very competitive. Another thing about the school is that they have a RN program with SUNY Downstate. You are automatically given a job at that hospital if your in that program.

You can attend there if you want but just keep in mind that you have to keep a 3.8 and have very high marks in everything that you do.

Good luck in finding a school!

I got in wth a 3.346 GPA & a score of 114 on the NLN exam. They take everything into consideration GPA, pre req grades, interview etc... Their Rn/Pn program is very competitive. Of the people who took the NLN and applied this year 2011 only about 160 were granted interviews; of which 60 were accepted into their Rn/AAS program. I had classmates with gpa scores from 3.7-4.0 & weren't granted an interview. It's not just one thing that will get you into Medgar Evers Nursing program. My grades are as follows Eng 112 A, Eng 150 B+, Math 120 C, CL 101 A, Chm 105 A-, A&P I B-, A&P B-, Psych A (I haven't taken Micro 261 as yet). So it goes to show you don't have to have the best GPA or NLN score to get although it's better if you do.

There is no waiting list! They choose from the top down according to their criteria. They may have 80 seats open but only choose to admit 30 students depending on the strength of the group of applicants.

You are right regarding ones need to maintain a B- in all sceince & nursing classes.

I agree with you Medgar Evers is not a bad environment I wish people would stop bashing our school.

I don't know about nursing, but I heard that their environment is not very clean.

I also heard that in terms of location "its desserted like a dessert". - a long walk to get their. I heard it's not good.

I'm so happy that right as I was about to register for their ADN program, I called my friend b4 and she told me a big nooooooo.

You could maybe try New York City College Of Technology.

I wish you all the best!

Do pray tell just where are you getting your information from. It's such a bad environment hence the reason ppl are being turned away at addmissions because there is simply no room all classes are filled. Or is it because their Rn & Pn programs have a 99% passing rate. The heart of Crown Heights a dessert really! What exactly was your friends gpa like? You are correct City Tech is a great school but it was not my first choice for Nursing school. Medgar Evers College has an excelent Nursing program so please get your facts straight before you post!

Congratsss... I just received a letter and the interview is next week Tuesday. I'm sooooo nervous. How was the interview? What kind of questions they ask?

meeeeeeeeeeeee tooo! i'm beyond nervous lol i have no idea what to

study for?? help anyone??

dayana.jim87 i got your pm & tried to reply but they disabled my pm because i haven''t been on for quite some time. congrats on your interview i'm sure you and zyphorah did fine. i wish you guys all the best.

I GOT ACCEPTED FOR THE FALL 2012 AAS wooohoo :-)

congrats dayana.jim87 ! take my advice as soon as you get your text books and reading list start reading. don't just read but make sure you understand what you read. falling behind on your reading is a death sentence. as for the med math do chaps 1-11 because you will have to do a math test and to pass you must score 100%. i wish you all the best.

ps. you are going to love clinical.
