Med-Surgi & Phamacology

Specializes in Oncology.

Hey, fellow students.

How are you doing on these subjects?

Are you ALL RIGHT?

I'm taking Med-Surgi, pham, and patho together.

Would you give me some advice about getting through this semester?

I prepare for the class, but the professor just goes on and on.

The test is totally different.

The clinic starts in March. It will be another unknown factor in this semester.

Hope you have a "safe" semester! phsically, mentally, and emotionally.

Good night.

In preparation for the class, one study habit I have is to outline my chapters, that way I know I have read all the text concerning the subject being covered. I then will write things down over and over and over and over again...sometime 1/2 a page or longer for memorization purposes, or to grasp a concept on something.

Then while studying over my lecture notes/chapter outlines, I will highlight things I feel are important. Then last minute studying/reading over these notes, I seem abit more prepared for the exam.

Outlining the text/chapters, seems to help me when you are unlucky enough to have an exam that is different from what is covered by the professor. In these situations, I usually pull a C on the exam.

hope this helps you! Good luck!!!

Have you gone and talked to the professor to discuss your concerns and to ask what you can do?

Doing really really good. But our instructor (one of them) goes on and on too. (Medsurg) We don't discuss anything, just listen. Now our Pharm instructor, asks us questions, lets us ask questions, and we join in on the discussion, just wonderful input and ouput if you will. Must be working I just made a 100 on my Pharm test!

Wish I could recommed some way for you to study, but find that we all have different ways of doing that. As for me, I always try to do the vocab and read any handouts before class. That way I know something about what is being talked about. As for test studying, just keep going over the material till I am blue in the face!!

Good luck

I'm in Lifespan (med-surg clinicals), and Pharm II. 26 contact/credit hours. Frankly, the only thing getting me throgh each day is prayer and coffee, and sometimes not in that order, LOL:chuckle

I agree, review, review review. And ask questions. I would definitely see that prof if you aren't getting a lot out of lectures...perhaps there are more supplemental notes? I always do better reading material, vs. hearing it.

Good luck!
