H1b Visa for nurses under FY 2010

Hello. I am a U.S. graduate nurse with two and a half years experiences. I have BSN and OCN. Oncolgy is my favorite part. I have chemo experiences. I came to the U.S. with F-1. I am on H1C status now. My H1C is expired on June, 2011. I am looking for H1B hospital. I am trying to apply to the outpatient chemo nurse position at the university hospital. I had a year inpatient-oncology nursing experience at the university hospital and a year and a half at the community magnet hospital. If the position requires BSN,Chemo Certification,CPR(I have BLS and ACLS.) and prefers OCN, is it possible to get H1B visa? Thanks.
  2. Hello. I have some questions about becoming oncology clinical research nurse. I am a RN, BSN, OCN with 2 years of acute oncology nursing experiences. I am on H1C visa status. I was graduated from US nursing school, and my current hospital sponsored me for the working visa. I was chemo-certified in 2008. Currently, I do not have to administer chemotherapy at the hospital. One of the staffing company sent me an e-mail about the clinical research nurse position. They are looking for a RN, BSN, OCN with 2 years of acute oncology nursing experiences. They think I am a great fit. However, I am not sure they are going to sponsor me for H1B visa. I am not able to work for other company unless they sponsor me for working visa or greencard. I have been always intereted in a clinical research nurse position, but the most position requires recent research experience. And I think I do not have enough knowledge and experience in oncology research nursing area. How did you get into the clinical research nursing? I would like to prepare for the position. I knew that SOCRA or ONS has several courses and conferences, but I am not sure I do have to go to the courses and conferences without research experience. Please give me any advice. I will appriciate it so much. Thanks.

    myeloma transplant/BMT?

Hi. I cannot believe it. Time is so fast, and I am a senior and need to apply for the first job in nursing. I worked on the oncology floor as a nurse extern last summer. I loved it! I am still working on the same floor as a clinical care assistant until graduation in May. For my leadership lotation, I chose the oncology unit in other hospital. I loved it! Now I have to apply for two positions in the hospital. There is opening in all of the units for new grads externs. I am willing to work with cancer patients. I know that I am not comfortable with mother/baby, psych, or critical care patients. I am going to apply for medical oncology floor where I am working now and myeloma transplant/BMT unit. However, I do not have any exeperience on the myeloma transplant/BMT unit. Would you give me some idea of what kind of floor it is? How do I need to prepare for the interview in case? Thanks! -Clara

    Med-Surgi & Phamacology

Hey, fellow students. How are you doing on these subjects? Are you ALL RIGHT? I'm taking Med-Surgi, pham, and patho together. Would you give me some advice about getting through this semester? I prepare for the class, but the professor just goes on and on. The test is totally different. The clinic starts in March. It will be another unknown factor in this semester. Hope you have a "safe" semester! phsically, mentally, and emotionally. Good night.

    Thyroid Problem

Hello. I have some question about thyroid problem. I am a new nursing student starting the BSN study in the fall. I've got a physical exam for the nursing school. Everything was fine, but the nurse found that the right side of my thyroid was so large. And then I've got a blood test and a ultra sound exam. The blood test result is T3:1.09, T4:7.0, and TSH:0.717. The ultra sound exam shows the large dominant nodule on the right. I am going to go to the doctor's office next friday. If I have a thyroid problem, can I study nursing? It seems an odd question, but it is important to me. And could you explain something about thyroid probelm? I try to read the book and the information in the internet. I think I don't have any special symtoms. Any comment will be helpful. Thanks. Clara.
  6. Hello, how's your summer going? I'm a pre-nursing student who starts the nursing school in the fall. My acceptance letter will be sent by late May, but I'm sure I will be accpted. Even though I'm not a student nurse yet, I have been reading the nursing discussion board for nurses both in the U.S. and in the Korea. I've been here for two and half years, so my common sense about the hospital and nursing could be different comparing to others. I've read a book about the communication in the nursing context during this semester. The book explains about team nursing and functional nursing. I've read that a Korean nurse in the Korean hospital complains about functional nursing. She is a new graduate and starts to work in secondary hospital setting. She learned the advantage of team nursing in nursing school, but the hospital where she are working runs by functional nurisng. She should do all acting. There are acting nurses and charge nurses in Korean hospital. She means that the Korean hospital staffing is functional nursing. I know that there are huge differences between the nursing textbook and the real world. I think knowing the differences as much as possible makes me better prepared. What about the hospital staffing in the United States? I will have many questions during my study in nursing. This is the first question. :balloons: Have a meaningful summer!

    Taking the CNA program

[color=seegreen] hello! i am a pre-nursing student. i've seen some students taking cna program before starting nursing school. is it really helpful for your study in nursing? i am going to work during the summer, but taking cna program during the summer sounds good. my school does not require the cna program for admission, but i see some nursing schools in other states require it. the cost of the program is $235, is this an appropriate price? i am taking finals now. the preparation of getting into the nursing school for two and half years is almost over. i hope everyone is doing well! :)

    To suzanne4

Hello, suzanne4! I've read a lot of your writings in this board. I think you are the expert who can give international nurses advice about immigration. Is it possible that a foreign LPN greduate in the U.S. can work after graduation? I have a friend from Korea. She want to be a RN, but it takes a long time getting into nursing school. She is considering being LPN at first and takes the LPN-RN course. She already has a bachelor degree in microbiology in Korea. I suggest a fast-tract BSN program, but she thinks it is so competitive. She has F-1 visa. Personally, I think that the 2-year RN program is the best for her if she wants to be a RN. I know that a foreign greduate from any RN program in the U.S. can apply for working permit. However, I don't know about a greduate from LPN program. Can you answer my question about a foreign LPN? I'll appreciate! :)
  10. Wow! How did you find the program? I want to be a volunteer in other country. My school does not have the program, so I have to find it on my own. Have a great experience! Please, share with us when you come back!
  11. Hello, everyone! I am a pre-nursing student starting to study at the nursing school this fall, hopefully. What's your plan this summer? I am looking for the summer job on campus now. I wish you have a nice semester. Spring break is coming! Cheep up!

any arkansas nurses or nursing students

Thanks for the information, kimhaw! I've attended Career Nights at Baptist last year. They gave students lots of information about their program. I think you can get the information about student loans if you attend there. Career Nights 2004 Come Visit Our Campus! The sessions last approximately 1 1/2 hours and start at 5:30 p.m. Come to the Baptist Health Schools of Nursing and Allied Health Campus at 11900 Colonel Glenn Road in Little Rock. Please call 501-202-6200 or 1-800-345-3046 for a reservation to career night. Career Nights 2004 Tuesday February 3rd Tuesday March 2nd Tuesday April 6th Tuesday May 4th Tuesday June 1st Tuesday July 6th Tuesday August 10th Tuesday September 7th Tuesday October 5th Tuesday November 9th For more information, call BAPTIST HEALTH Schools of Nursing and Allied Health at 202-6200 or toll-free 1-800-345-3046. Baptist Health is the largest not-for-profit healthcare organization in Arkansas. All funding for this site provided by Baptist Health. My GPA is about 3.8. However, I've worried about any admission difference for UCA students and other school students. I'm a student at UCA now, but I finished my AA at ASUB. I just try hard for getting good GPA this semester. If I'm a US citizen, I may go to Baptist. However, I cannot apply there. Because I have a F-1 visa, I have to go to college or university. I try to apply UAMS and UCA. However, the chemistry makes me stay at UCA. UAMS does not accept General Chemistry II, and UCA accepts only General Chemistry II. This makes me give up UAMS. Now I'm taking Nutrition, General Chemistry II, Medical Terminology, Statistics, and Begining Badminton. What do you take this semester?

    Anyone in Little Rock?

Nice to meet you! I have a question to you. What program are you in? I live in Cabot, Arkansas. I'm from South Korea. I've been here for 2 years. My plan was to finish the Associate of Science in Health Sciences degree at ASU-Beebe and to transfer to BSN program. I finished about 55 hours. I tried to go to Harding University at Searcy, but it is expensive and requires too much bible classes. I need nursing school information. I may need to wait one year more. Can you introduce your program? And other information about nursing program in Arkansas? The list: http://www.arkansasnursing.com/listings.htm Thanks a lot!!!

    Anyone in Little Rock?

Nice to meet you, det01! I live in Cabot, attending at ASU-Beebe. I received the Associate of Science in Health Sciences this spring, and I am going to go to Harding, majoring in nursing. Harding is so expensive as you know. I cannot apply to any scholarship with GPA 3.83 because I am an international student. I received a letter about the ASU Systems Transfer Scholarship from ASU-Jonesboro. However, I cannot apply. I once visited the Baptist Health Schools of Nursing and Allied Health Campus for Career Nights 2002. However, I cannot apply to the RN program because I am an international student.(I have a student visa, so I have to attend a school.) Anyway, I will do my best to be a nurse as a christian servant. I am looking for people in Arkansas, too. Keep in touch.
