The Saunders NCLEX review book was very helpful for me in Med-Surg. The other option is the Reviews and Rationales Med-surg book by Mary Hogan. I also liked the HESI Comprehensive review NCLEX review book. I used that to study for the exit HESI and I found it very helpful.
The links are for the newest editions. The older editions may be fine too.
P.s. I bought the Saunders book, but the other two I borrowed from my school library.
Oh I see!im fairly new at all this NCLEX stuff I just barely started school I won't be done till 2017. Will saunders 5th edition be alright for supplemental studying for now? Did you find lots of errors in the book or cd?
The only problem is that the CPR chapter is not up to date with CAB vs ABC. I didn't use the CD much so I can't have an opinion on that, but content was otherwise accurate.
I had the 5th but traded it in when the 6th came out and I realized the books were very similar. Fortunately at the time, I sold it for enough to break even. The questions on the CD are just online instead. Personally, I like having the 6th because I've ended up needing various Evolve books for diff classes, so I have a lot of different practice q resources in MyEvolve and can do them anywhere, though there's some definite overlap of questions.
It depends what works for you. I'm not great about pulling out CDs to do questions but I use the online resources a lot. I wouldn't have bought the 6th if I had realized they were so similar at the time though, but it worked out well. If you are good about using the CD, might as well save yourself some money, the questions are pretty much the same.
I agree that Reviews and Rationales is another good book.

Hey everyone, I'm starting my first semester of med surg soon, what supplement book helped you the most? There are so many I can't decide what to get.
