Med-Surg ATI

Published

Anyone out there have any advice for the Med-Surg ATI RN version?

I have to take it tomorrow (should be studying right now;) )!

Rumor is that it's really hard and we have to pass it to pass our class. Just a little stressful...

If you've taken it, is it really that hard? I have an 89.73 in my advanced Med-Surg class so I hope I would be able to pass it but...

Thanks!!

ooh, I have to take it next friday, let me know how it is.

I have to take it Tuesday...let us know:caduceus:

Hi,

I took the ATI Med/Surg a few weeks ago. They had given us the study guide for it (800 pages). I read over it, but most in class said they never opened it. A girl in class laughed at me for actually reading over it - she said she used hers for a door stop...:lol2:

We had to get over the 45th percentile - my score was in the 90th, so I'm glad I read the material. This is just me, but it would have been a lot harder if I hadn't studied because some of the questions dealt with material we hadn't gone over in class. But if you normally don't have to study much, it might be easy for you, everyones different. I wish you all well with it. Sue

Hi Everyone,

So I took it yesterday and got an 85% which is the 99th percentile !

It was hard, but like Sue said, I studied for it using the HUGE study guide.

Actually, I think the thing that helped me the most (and helped with the Mental Health one too) was taking the practice tests and then studying the topics that ATI told me to review. Like Sue said, there were quite a few topics in the test that we didn't cover in my Med-Surg class.

Good luck to everyone who will be taking it soon!

At little late to be asking for suggestions. Read the whole book and take all the practice exams available.

ugh, the ATI books are useless I think. For Med/Surg, I studied straight out of Saunders-LIFESAVER I tell ya.

Funny thing-our final was the ATI exam. We were given codes for practice and I was pulling my hair out, screaming/crying on some nights to my husband because no matter what, I was scoring 67-70%s (level 2...which is GOOD-like 80% something percent chance of passing NCLEX and all we needed to pass the course was a Level 1).

I took the ATI final and scored 99th percentile. I went in telling myself "melmarie-STICK with your first answer. If you feel yourself questioning your answers, IGNORE it and move along" and thats exactly what I did. When I was taking the practice exams, I was second guessing myself and my first answers were always right.

Sticking with your gut is definitely the best.

Yes, supposedly there is a ton of information that isn't mentioned in class. I feel like the book isn't all that helpful and remains quite basic. It sure could be used as a doorstop. Thanks for the recommendation :p.

Thanks for the heads up! I have to take it in a few weeks but I'm unsure how I'll ever get through that large study guide!

I could not agree more than the ATI study guide books are useless. They're wayyy too basic for the actually test! I still do horribly on the practice exams and fear I'm going to fail the actual exam. I will try my best to stick to my gut :).
