Published

I lost the med cart keys and i took the spare one and informed my supervisors. The next day I was told that I should not have gone home before I found the keys. What happens?

Welcome to Allnurses.com, the world's largest nursing peer to peer network on the world wide web.

None of us have a crystal ball to predict what will happen, unfortunately. The managerial team at your place of employment should be able to answer this question with the most precision. We wish you the best of luck and will hope for an optimal outcome.

You can't move in!! If you are the type who is often observed laying the keys down carelessly, leaving the med room door open and unattended, walking away from your open med cart your management will probably scourge you and make you feel like a fool but you will learn a great lesson.

I routinely avoided doing all of those things and I lost the keys-twice. Once I actually THREW them in the TRASH, another time the lanyard got caught on the back of a chair behind the nurse's station, pulled the keys out of my pocket and I didn't realize it. It's like putting the remote control in the fridge at home. It happens when you have a hundred things on your mind....

I locked mine in the cart once....don't ask how or why.....it was just a fast response to lock the cart as I was walking away.... I knew as soon as couldn't find them in my pockets....after checking them a gazillion times in panic mode haha. It happens to all of us.

I locked mine in the narc box once. We have spare keys to each cart and med room with the nursing supervisor. The only spare key to the narc box was in the pharmacy closed for the evening. That was a giant pain.

I use my phone, to type, I work at night, and I'm a bad speller. Pick any reason you want for my misspellings
