can anybody tell me what this means? is/cdb q 1 hour got this as an order with a patient unable to determine the meaning thanks for your help
is/cdb q 1 hour --- never in 30 years saw this as a standard abbreviation and i've worked respiratory nursing 20 of these years both hospital and home care.
agree with traumarusthis is why jcaho is eliminating most abbreviations.
one should never guess--look it up in the facility's approved definition list; if not there call the doctor for explanation.
That's why reading policy and procedure manual should be required part of first week of orientation and only using approved appreviations---they do differ between facilities.LOL Goes to show you how VERY different things can be between hospitals!
ACS: is this acute coronoary syndrome or atherosclerosis?
SVD: is this sexual veneral disease or spontaneous lady partsl delivery?
PE: is this pulmonary emboli or pulmonary edema?
BIG difference.
Had a Doctor tell a nurse one time to "add up units of insulin in a syringe", meaning combine regular and NPH.
RN added together dose together of Regular and NPH and was planning to give it as ONE DOSE of REGULAR INSULIN.
