Meal planning for those long shifts....help!!!

Published

Okay, I'm at a loss. I'm so sick of the normal meals that I bring to eat during those long 12 hour shifts. (sandwich, yogurt, fruit, ICK!!!...so sick of it). I need a meal makeover! What are some healthy, quick, and easy meals that I can make for work? I don't like bringing the frozen dinners b/c they have so much sodium in them...I don't need to add fuel to the fire of my already swollen feet after standing all day. So, enlighten me, and share with everyone your favorite easy and healthy meals! TIA!!!

I've noticed that i feel better after a warm meal.

I usually make a week's worth of food on my day off, and put it in containers. Instant food, just reheat.

When I was in a similar situation I befriended my crock pot and slow cooker. I'd come home quickly toss everything in the post plug it and set it. Morning time it was all done and tasting good. I would put in a microwaveable container and hit the road.

Does your lunch room have a microwave? :)

Also, since the title of this thread included "long shifts", you need something substantial. Always include some form of protein in your meal.

I'm pretty good about taking he time to pack my little plate dinner(usually left overs from family din-din) getting it to work, looking forward to it and then have to go take it out of the fridge uneaten and bring it home because the shift is soooooo hectic that I'm lucky to get a few sips of my frozen water. That really does make me see red:angryfire . The more I try to take time for my dinner break the futher away it seems to get. :o
