Mdc Students For Nursing? What Gpa Did You All Get Accepted With?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I have been coming to this sight a lot lately. I am off the wall with this whole process on getting into the MDC nursing program. I applied to the generic program for Fall/2008.:banghead:.

Basically I am waiting for the acceptance letter which they already told me are going to be send out starting on March 16th. I imagine that those who are not accepted from the get go will get their letters first hand, and those who are accepted will get there letters first as well. For those who may be accepted I can imagine it might take more time. The school will probabley see who is going to be in the program, and who decides not to go in.

Anyway, I am so nervous. I really would appreciate some insight how just how high your GPA has to be. I have heard HORROR stories. The advisors in MDC are horrible (Well some not all.) At least a lot of the medical campus advisors are not to helpful. Everytime I talk to someone they tell me something new .

I really want to hear from students who are applying and what their GPA is. Also students who have been accepted into the generic program for Miami Dade College, what was there GPA when getting accepted?

I want to be a labor and delivery nurse. I finally found that was for me when I gave birth to my son two years ago. I have been working hard ever since, and I am extremely discouraged and nervous with all the talk about the GPA's for MDC.

Please anyone with insight into this. I would appreciate ALL the advise that is offered. Let me know:rolleyes:.

Hey Tiff,

about Barry. I hear they have one of the best programs. The one that was on the verge of losing accreditation was UM. Yes UM, believe it or not. Really scary. People always thought that it was the best, but now I am in doubt.

UM had the NCLEX scores really really low, and now they are trying to adjust this by making it all right. I think they just have to get their scores back to their orginal scores.....I have no idea where they went wrong.

I was considering of going to get my bachelors there, but now I change my mind. I think I will go somewhere else....perhaps to FSU which was my first choice when I got out of high school, but I had to put my plans on hold because I got pregnant with my son while I was a senior in high school.....very unexpected.

That is why people should REALLY research a school before anything....you never know.

we should get together and study! Hopefully we'll be in the same program. Are you going to apply for the MDC Scholars or the regular MDC track?

We should definitely get together to study! Hopefully we'll be in the same program. Are you applying for the MDC Scholars or are you going to non-scholarship track? If you are thinking of the Scholars, which one do you think you'll go to?

:( Not going to the scholars program. I just don't like the idea of being stuck with one hospital for two years. I want to know that I will be able to get out of somewhere if I do not like it. You know what I mean?

Anyway we will figure something out. I am dying about the letters that will go out soon. I think they might go out as late as Tueday. When I called they were sealing the letters, so I believe that by Tueday because Monday everything is closed including the mail man, and MDC......a little frustrating. I mean it is nice to get it in the mail in a way, but I just find that it would be so much better to be able to get it in e mail in terms of it being faster. I mean it is email right? FAST. We will see.

I'm nervous as well. I graduated with a BA in biology with a 2.6 gpa, which stinks. Nursing was something I always thought about, now I have this passion to be one. For the past months I have been getting stomach cramps becuase of nerves. My gpa sucks and my prereq for nursing is only a 3.3 becuase of my C+ in ana/phy II and B- in speech and english. I took these classes before I really wanted to become a nurse. The rest of my preqs were A's becuase I got serious. But is not high enough. I am applying to 8 schools. 2 community colleges and 6 universities for next fall. I'm scared, I need some guidance. I am a pharmacy tech (I was pre-pharm), volunteered at loma linda hospital in emergency area, never took my teas test (plan on taking it soon after I study like crazy), volunteered at kaiser in the nursing and pharmacy area for a couple months in high school..any advice anyone (sorry for the long post LOL, it came out of nowhere LOL).

Private universities are easier to get into and if you want to apply to MDC then apply to theaccelerated. That should increase your chances.
