MDC Nursing spring 2014

U.S.A. Florida

So I'm starting the post for Spring 2014. I'm currently waiting for my acceptance letter for fall term but just in case applying for spring is my back up plan.

So my GPA is 3.0 and my teas is 72 giving me a score around 73.

Since I didn't get a first round email for fall I'm thinking of retaking my teas test so if anyone is willing to study with me please let me know. Good luck to everyone applying for spring!!

@Pookyp, Transitional full time face to face students in school first semester 5 days a week. M/T 2.5-3 hrs lecture, W lecture 1.5 hrs, R/F clinicals 5.5-6 hrs. However we dont start clinicals immediately, first we have skills lab to prep us for clinicals. Its 3 semesters so yes the equivalent of 1 yr. As for test we should expect 2-4 test a week. Depending on finish rate of material being covered.

@bsartor

Thank you for all the info!!

I hope I get to meet you :-)

Hey guys!

Unfortunately, I got rejected for Spring 2014 generic program. For the TEAs exam, I got an 86.4% and I'm not sure what my science GPA is. I'm not sure how to calculate that. I know it isn't good since I got 3 Cs in three of those classes and I was hoping my TEAs exam grade was high enough to get me in but it wasn't.

Basically, I don't know what to do now. Any advice? I was thinking of retaking my science classes but you have to get it appealed and documentation from the MDC saying it was my science grades that didn't get in into the program. Long process.

I've read a lot of comments talking about the CPR classes. Are those done before nursing school? What are some things I can do now to make it easier for when I get into the nursing program in the future(fingers crossed lol)?

Thanks guys!

Christy

Christy your Teas are excellent. I think you should speak to someone in advisement. In the MDC nursing program page they give you the requirements to apply for nursing, one of them is to have a 2.5 gpa. If they allowed you to apply you must have that gpa and with that teas score you should have gotten in. Make sure to go in person to advisement office and ask them that information. Also, before applying I asked the adviser to calculate my science gpa for me to make sure what I had, ask someone in advisement to calculate it for you.

Good Luck!

For those of you waiting on your background checks. I did my fingerprints last Tuesday and since I haven't received an email I decided to call and they told me that it was ready.

thanks for the reply!

I was hoping my TEAs score was good enough, but i think my science gpa is just too low. So re-taking at least one of my science classes is my first option here.

Hey everyone! I just turned in everything today for transitional full time face to face! Good luck to everyone! For those who didn't get in just keep trying. I didn't get into broward's program last year and I got rejected for MDC fall semester.. But my teas score at that time was 66% and my science gpa is 3.0.. I retook the teas and got a 78% and then got in for transitional spring.. After reading these posts it seems that the generic is a much more competitive option. So for those who didn't get into the generic and need a plan B, try getting your LPN or paramedic license and then try again in a year for the transitional program.. Just a thought or study hard for that new NLN test and then get an excellent score and then reapply.. Whatever you do, don't give up and end up going to one of those expensive private non accredited schools.. I almost did that when MDC rejected me for fall but something told me to wait. So again keep trying and good luck! (Sorry for the long speech lol)
