MDC Nursing spring 2014

Published

So I'm starting the post for Spring 2014. I'm currently waiting for my acceptance letter for fall term but just in case applying for spring is my back up plan.

So my GPA is 3.0 and my teas is 72 giving me a score around 73.

Since I didn't get a first round email for fall I'm thinking of retaking my teas test so if anyone is willing to study with me please let me know. Good luck to everyone applying for spring!!

I known theyre open til 7 pm but not sure if that's the same for Fridays. I believe they close for the weekend.

You're supposed to pick your classes at the orientation, BUT you can pick them the night before. I have a COMPLETE nursing kit available that I never used for $75. Its the same one you're going to pay $100 for at the store. I think I also have a brand new white clinical top in XL that did not fit me. If you're an XL you can have it for free. If you're using the Brunners books I have both of them as well I will be selling cheap. I think I paid like $50 for both editions.

How do you know which class to pick and how many credits to take each semester?

Each program has a curriculum and it tells you which classes you will take and how many credit for that particular semester

Did you know when we have to pay for the classes

Each tab has the program and inside is full time or part time and what you will be taking first semester. You're going to have a few weeks to pay. If you need money, you better see financial aid for a "cash advance".

My email letter said I couldn't switch options once I started.

You are doing FT transitional right? What is your schedule like for school? Also, are you still working? If yes, how does that fit into your school/work schedule? Thanks for your time.

First semester you will have lecture Monday and Tuesday. Pharmacology on Wednesday and clinicals on Thursday and Friday. Second semester is three 1 month classes where you go to class twice a week and clinicals once a week for 12 hours except psych that you go twice a week. Third semester is a 7 week advanced med surg class and then a 6 week leadership class. I work 2 days a week.

Does anyone know where to take the CPR/BLS course other than MDC? I'm working FT until January. Has anyone tried Nursing Unlimited?

Im actually right now at a place that a friend of mine already in the program, told me about. Not going to lie the place so far is kind of weird but I guess is because is a small vocational school where I would say 99.9% of its students are latin. The certification is by the american heart association just as our school asks. You can take it during the week or on saturday and it costs $60, which is $20 cheaper than MDC. The phone number is 305-264-4972, the address is 6617 sw 8th street.

I will post some feedback after this course so you can have a better idea of what is like.
