MDC Nursing Fall 2017

Published

Hi everyone! I just wanted to start a thread for applicants of the nursing program at Miami Dade College for Fall term 2017. I'm currently working on my last prerequisites and will be finished this semester. I plan on taking the HESI A2 in January and applying for the Generic and Part time tracks.

Congrats! Your chances of getting in are definitely high! Mind sharing some tips as to how you prepared for the Hesi? I'm a bit nervous having to take this test one again í ½í¸

Thank you! I bought the Trivium HESI A2 review book. I found the review book to not be that great and thorough, so I also watched videos online (Crash Course is fantastic!) and mostly used my class notes, especially for anatomy, chemistry, and biology. I also did a lot of free review questions online.

Science GPA 4.00, Hesi A2 92% !!! :) Hesi was quite simple, I expected it to be more difficult. I scored the least in Vocabulary since English is not my first language I guess. What surprised me was the amount of questions on each test. Anatomy, Chemistry, Biology all had 30 questions each. However, all other sections had 55 questions each! It took a loooot of time to answer all of them so I kind of rushed because I was afraid I'm not gonna be able to finish all sections by the time ends. :)

I am finishing up the last of my prereqs this semester. I'm taking Intro to Healthcare with the lab. I like the lab. So far, we learned about PPE procedures, body mechanics, handwashing, how to check a pulse rate, blood pressure and temperature. We get to use the equipment. My GPA is at a 4.0 and I got a 85 on the Hesi. My Hesi test had so many random word problems and fill-in the blanks on the math section. When do you recommend I apply for the program? At the end of the semester or right now?

Are you taking Lassiter for intro to healthcare?

No. I have two professors. One for lecture and one for lab. I'm taking the lecture course online. It's an 8 week course.

How many labs do you have to go to? When I took it online I only had to do one five hour lab.

I am scheduled to attend lab once a week.

Hi everyone! I'm also applying to the generic FT and PT options. My science gpa is 3.53 and I scored an 82% on the HESI. I'm debating whether or not to retake the HESI since it's slightly lower than what I was hoping for...we'll see. Best wishes to everyone!

hello, how do you guys calculate the science GPA what classes do they use?

The advisor was the one who told me my GPA. I believe it's using the Chem, Micro and A&P classes.

Add up all your science pre reqs grades(0-4) and divide by the total science classes.
