MDC Fall 2011 =)

Published

Hi guys! Who else is applying for MDC Fall 2011?

I am also applying for FIU-- I was accepted last year to MDC but for financial and personal reasons could not attend. :'( Who else will be applying to Generic FT? Please state what program you will be applying to!

I will be taking the TEAS sometime in March, in which I will also be taking the HESI A2 for FIU. So I might as well be studying for both, lol. Anybody taken the TEAS at MDC? Share your experiences here! :) I will be using a general book for nursing school entrance exams... it's by Barron... and I will be studying my math from a nursing calculation book, and my sciences from my anatomy, biology, and other notes. Is it true there is geology on the exam? How irrelevant... lol

Well good luck to us all! :heartbeat

Coren, to you and all the other haters who apparently through their words claim 'it isn't fair,' let me tell you that life itself isn't fair. So deal with it. If you're in, I'm happy for you because we'll be in nursing school together and it'll be fun. If not, keep trying. This to me is a dream and I have worked hard to get here... without any help and paying for school myself. Don't judge a book by its cover.

So you all know, I have hell of grades and had gotten accepted last year but then they took me out the program because MAC 1105 kicked in in the pre-requisites and I had to take it- like someone earlier mention on the post. Nursing isn't about getting in or making the money afterwards. It is about dedication, persistence, responsibility and caring for others. Read and listen, I met the criteria and like many of you I've also been worried to get in until it finally happened. So, yes, good for me! Sorry for those who didn't get in. If you want to go for nursing because it's in you, then I encourage you to continue fighting for what you want and do it.

I agree, life isn't fair. That being said, I can only imagine the frustration of being told that a selection system works a particular way, only to find out that someone who didn't meet the requirements as closely received admission instead. I would imagine anyone in that situation would feel anger and disappointment, because all of us are putting our time, energy, and emotions into this. I'm sure whatever the outcome, Coren will continue to work towards acceptance into a program and becoming a nurse, either now or in the future.

How many student have taken CRITICAL THINKING class???

My classmate (BCC RN school in 2nd semester) did well in his pre-reqs, but said that RN school is very different. No more memorization... all about Critical Thinking. One of my classmates has been accepted into MDC for Fall (full-time), she already took the critical thinking class. WISH I HAD, TOO! I'm concerned it will hinder me not having this class in advance.

For the most part, I don't think there are any 'haters', just concerned people and yes life isn't fair and at some point in our lives we already discovered that. I think the reason so many people are confused and upset or what it may be is because none of us have been able to really get our questions answered. Instead they shut us out, and it's always worst when you don't know what's going on compared to knowing and being able to comprehend it and deal with it. As you know being left out in the dark is never fun. And it's unfortunate to hear what happen to you due to that Mac class, I can only imagine how hard that must have been. But I'm glad you kept trying and finally made it, congrats it's a great accomplishment.

Hello Everyone, I am completely devasted!!! I heard some people that got accepted, but never got an email, I didnt get an email, but I am out of the country so there is no way that I can go there to check out if I got in and just didnt get an email!!!! Please can anyone tell me if there is a advisor that I can call and find that out? I will get back on the 14 of July, will that be too late for me to accept my seat if I find out I got accepted?

PLEASEEEEEEEEE any HELP will be AWESOME I AM DESPERATE!!!!! LOL

Hello everyone! Hope everyone is well and getting ready for their classes! As of today, I still have not heard anything from MDC. I had applied to the part-time program with a 3.82 GPA and TEAS of 78.7. The reason I am posting my scores again is because I have read a post by someone new on this forum and under the part-time forum and this person has supposedly been accepted to the part-time program with a GPA of 3.26 and a TEAS of 63. Not that I'm not happy for this person but something is not right!! Do you think this person is being sincere?? I have been through a lot these past 5 years and so have my kids and I am not in the mood to be jerked around by MDC or this person if he's joking around!! After the death of my husband and father of my children I went back to school for a better life and have been trying to ensure my success in school so that I might have a chance to be a nurse and then I read that this person gets in with a 3.26 and 63 on the TEAS??!!? I just want everyone's opinion on what I should do. I don't want to take away the opportunity from someone else I just think things should be fair.

P.S. Sorry if I sound a little hostile :/

Hey, have you tried to call MDC to know what is the status of your application?

FCAT,

honestly don't waste your money on calling. I called Tuesday and they told me that there was no one there who knows anything and are not able to tell us where we stand. Really? you're telling me the department responsible for advisment and our application at some point don't know anything at all?! Then i spoke to Reba because i was told she might be able to give me further information, she took 2 days to call me back. Then she told me its a computer that generates the list, so she "has no idea". Apparently everyone in that department is clueless because they don't want to be bothered. but i'm actually going to the medical campus today, let them try to avoid me now!

I'll inform you on any news they give me.

Hey I am sorry for taking forever, I am still out of the country LOL!!!

So you went to MDC? Why did they tell you? Hope everything went fine =-)

I just got acceptance letter 10 mins ago!

Congratulations!!!!!!

I had posted what they told me. They said there was a mixtures of scores that got accepted for the part time generic. Like scores in to 90's and even 60's. The advisor said it had something to do with a mix up that occurred in spring, which cause some students to be guaranteed a spot for this fall leaving less spots for new aplicants. The advisor I spoke to didn't know much because she said administers have been keeping that among themselves.
