I am also applying for FIU-- I was accepted last year to MDC but for financial and personal reasons could not attend. :'( Who else will be applying to Generic FT? Please state what program you will be applying to!
I will be taking the TEAS sometime in March, in which I will also be taking the HESI A2 for FIU. So I might as well be studying for both, lol. Anybody taken the TEAS at MDC? Share your experiences here! :) I will be using a general book for nursing school entrance exams... it's by Barron... and I will be studying my math from a nursing calculation book, and my sciences from my anatomy, biology, and other notes. Is it true there is geology on the exam? How irrelevant... lol
Mocadell-- I *JUST* ran upstairs from the nursing front desk and I asked the lady in the front if it was true that all emails for acceptance were sent out and she said NO, acceptance emails will be going out til june 30th, so if you have not gotten an email, it does NOT mean you have been rejected!!!
I feel like a failure in their eyes..I have a 3.82 GPA and a 78.7 on my TEAS and have worked my ass of for 2 1/2 years to get to this..people with a GPA of 3.4 but a TEAS of 82 got in..I'm sorry I don't mean to sound so hostile..I just need to be sad for a couple of days and regroup :crying2:
You are NOT a failure! Remember, all this bureaucratic b.s. is designed to break you down. I don't agree with their selection process but I guess we have no choice. Don't forget that it's 100% certainty that some people either won't accept, won't finish the application steps, or won't pass the background/physical. So there will definitely be openings no matter what they say. Plus, I know this sounds cliche, but in the bigger picture of your whole life, waiting a few month for a new start date won't seem like anything 10 years from now.
and i trust what this lady said bc zepphead has better scores than I do and i got accepted LOL so i am sure he will too!
ON EAGLES WINGS I hope you're right...I do believe that acceptance emails will continue to go out until the 30th of June after they know who accepts or declines after the 24. I spoke to the adviser that everyone has talked about..Olga..and she took me to her office and let me know what to expect.

let's hope for the best! i don't work tomorrow but i will go again on thursday after my shift and ask again... i know how annoying it is to get misinformed... i think the advisers get confused bc so much is going on--i just went and it was very calm and empty. why dont you call now and double check with someone else?

You guys are awesome and from the bottom of my heart I wish all of those accepted much success in your studies and future careers..I WILL NOT give up!! Even if I have to quit my job and start serving tables to be able to apply to a full time program!
The drug test alone was $80 and I got faxed results instead of results in a sealed envelope like they are now requesting.
I encountered the same thing today. It's amazing how some of these steps seem like should only take a few minutes, yet might take hours and hours. I used the clinic list from MDC. I picked the last clinic "Only Health Screens" because it is close to where I live. I guess the list is out of date because when I called the number, they said they are now EconoLabs and the location by my house doesn't exist any more.
They seem to have pretty cheap prices, but there were catches just like you mentioned. They seemed to be very familiar with the MDC nursing program. When I asked them about the drug screen results not being sealed, they said it was no problem and they had dealt with this many times. But I really have no idea if MDC is going to accept them.
Another thing I found out is Miami-Dade County Health told me to have the tuberculosis test *BEFORE* having the MMR & Varicella vaccinations. I tried to find out more about that, but the operator didn't know the reason. So I don't know if that is 100% true.

Remember Mocadell that these are the same folks that couldn't get their ducks in a row about calls going out or emails going out now or in July, etc. I wouldn't count yourself out until you get the rejection e-mail. I definitely won't, much as it kills me.
Just in case anyone else signed up and paid for the fingerprinting/background check: They do not begin until the 21st.
Is it free or cheaper if done at MDC campus? I was kind of confused when I was filling out the forms and chose one of the fingerprint businesses they listed. They charged me $68, but then I went to the direct site of the fingerprint place and the prices seem cheaper - so not sure if I'm being ripped off. Something also seemed odd because all the appointment times were open too. But then on their site it says you don't even need an appointment accept on Saturday. Sorry if this is confusing, just wanting to share some of the stuff I'm encountering.
Just wanted to let the ones know who did not get in...I went today the medical campus and they said that all of the acceptance emails went out yesterday..now the school is just waiting for people to accept or decline so that they can fill in more seats. The deadline to accept or decline is June 24 which is next Friday. .so we're not gonna know anything else until after that date..I have cried like a baby today..the worse part was telling my boys that I did not get in. I have class at 5pm at medical campus tomorrow and I'm going early so I can ask too. I have a friend that got 88 on her TEAS and has 4.0 and hasn't gotten an email. My score was 82 so that doesn't make a lot of sense...I don't know...I'm praying for you and I'll let you know what I hear tomorrow. Keep your hopes up!
