MDC Fall 2019 Nursing

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello fellow students! I wanted to create a topic for those who are planning on starting the MDC Nursing program in the Fall of 2019. It's never too early to be well prepared. LOL. I have a B.A. and was able to get some of my credits transferred to the A.S. I read through the thread for the Fall of 2018 class and the Spring of 2019 class. Both threads have some very useful information regarding how to study for the HESI, scores needed to get into the program, etc. and many people from those groups keep in touch in Facebook and via Whatsapp. I'm looking for a support/study group for those that are in the same timeline as I am. Just starting BSC2086 A&P 2/lab and MGF1106 next week at Kendall/Homestead campuses. Also, looking for P/T work at Baptist Hospital or MDC. I am anticipating taking Microbiology and the Intro to Healthcare in the Spring '19, along with the HESI. Hope to meet some great people on here!

Does anyone know if the part time program is at night for classes, like an eveing weekend program? When are clinicals?

Or is is a day time program?

Hi! Part time is all evening classes with clínicas on the weekends. We don’t start clinicals until second semester.

Thanks so much for the info! Def want to keep my job while going part time. How are you liking the pace? Do you work as well?

Well, I’m starting on a August 26th but yes, I will be working full time and doing CNA PRN too. It will take longer than the full time option but I think it’s also a matter of time management.

That's great. Nothing wrong or right about part time. I like to take my time, plus I have a great day job that's a good help right now. Get the health experience (hopefully with a job offer after graduation) with a steady paycheck in the meantime!

I plan on waiting til after first semesters classes (e.g. foundation of nursing) to challenge the CNA exam, then work CNA PRN on weekends similar to you! Or I may pay for weekend CNA classes with MDC to get a head start before nursign school so I don't have to take the Healthcare class and get hospital experience with doing my prereqs......

If you want your BSN at the same time you get your ASN, UCF has a Florida Online Concurrent Program for FL state college ASN/ADN students. Check it out if you'd like. 100% acceptance rate

Thanks for being a great resource!

Hello to everyone!

I would like to be part of the chat that was created, that way I can get more information about the nursing program offered at MDC. I recently took the Hesi exam and scored 83%, my GPA is 4.0. So I hope to get into the generic full time program at Homestead campus this Spring 2020. I am so excited and nervous at the same time, since the program is so competitive. I have heard that the spring term is less competitive than the fall as fewer students apply for it during that period of time. Does anyone know the average (more or less) score that guaranteed admission for the Fall 2019?

I will appreciate any response,

I wish you all the best of luck in this journey!

Thank you!
