MDC Fall 2019 Nursing

Published

Hello fellow students! I wanted to create a topic for those who are planning on starting the MDC Nursing program in the Fall of 2019. It's never too early to be well prepared. LOL. I have a B.A. and was able to get some of my credits transferred to the A.S. I read through the thread for the Fall of 2018 class and the Spring of 2019 class. Both threads have some very useful information regarding how to study for the HESI, scores needed to get into the program, etc. and many people from those groups keep in touch in Facebook and via Whatsapp. I'm looking for a support/study group for those that are in the same timeline as I am. Just starting BSC2086 A&P 2/lab and MGF1106 next week at Kendall/Homestead campuses. Also, looking for P/T work at Baptist Hospital or MDC. I am anticipating taking Microbiology and the Intro to Healthcare in the Spring '19, along with the HESI. Hope to meet some great people on here!

Hello,

I would also like to be added to the group chat! my number is 7867637514

Hi all! I wanted to post a message on my progress. Feel free to do the same. I'm currently taking a Nutrition class at Kendall Campus, studying for the CNA/HESI, planning to start volunteering again at Baptist Hospital (so I can hopefully land a paying job), and slowly going over the Fundamentals material. I did not apply for the MDC Fall program because I plan on applying for the MDC/Baptist Scholars Spring program. I'll take the last required course in the Fall, Statistics. Those who did apply have to wait 4-6 weeks after the application deadline to hear back. Sooo...How is everyone doing? Are you starting to read the Fundamentals book or taking a few weeks to enjoy with your family before the mayhem begins? Patiently waiting, or starting to panic? Feel free to post updates! Also, there is a WhatsApp group chat for those who applied for the FALL semester. If you are interested, IM me your info and I'll request an add.

For some reason I cant IM. Can I be added to the group chat for fall semester

Hi all! Looking up all the great info that you all have posted. Thanks for letting us know about the application date change. I hope it's what you say, however, I find a conversation that I had with a classmate this past Tuesday strange if that's the case. She said she had just spoken to an adviser who had told her it would not be a good idea to apply to the program because her grades were not competitive. She has a 3.6, I believe (got one C and the rest A's) and has a HESI score of 91%. I found that really disturbing that she would actually be discouraged from even applying. She was going to speak to another adviser. I'll ask her this Tuesday if she ever did and what the new adviser said.

Good luck to all of you that are applying for the Fall. I sent my info as well in order to stay in touch with all of you on Whatsapp. It's been great reading all of your messages. I will be commuting from SW Kendall, which probably falls under Homestead for a Full-time program. But hopefully, I'll be driving to Baptist Hospital, since I'll be applying for the Baptist Scholars in November. Good luck on finals you guys! We got this. :D

Hey guys! This student is actually me (I believe). My name is Florencia but everyone knows me as Flo :) I had class with Grisso last semester!

I did end up applying but it's been a rocky road since none of the advisers were encouraging AT ALL. I was extremely surprised since I thought I had done significantly better than other people in my position in regards to my HESI score. I've been a little iffy about my GPA since it's "so low" but I got a C in my first science class (Chemistry Lecture) and I got straight A's on everything else. I've honestly been a nervous wreck but I'm keeping busy by taking 5 classes this semester (BSN Pre-reqs and one general class to boost my overall GPA).

How are all of you feeling about the wait? It seems to never end! I hope to keep in contact with some people from this thread since I won't know anyone in either the Homestead or Medical Campus and would love to form a study group or just a group of hard working friends to sit with! :)

Could I please be added to the chat? My number is (786) 334-0274. Thank you!

So I have a question that I'm strongly debating with myself. When I applied in February I lived pretty close to the Medical campus, but my husband and I are about to close on a home in Homestead at the end of the month. The drive to the Homestead campus would be 10 minutes, while the drive to the Medical campus would be an hour with good traffic (seems almost impossible in Miami). Are the campuses equal when it comes to education?

Hey! I have a couple of graduated nurse friends and I’ve heard nothing but GREAT reviews from Homestead Campus. I wish I lived closer to it actually! Hope that helps :)
