Mdc bridge/transfer minimimum gpa?

Published

Yesterday I visted the campus and was advised. I was told by him that the minimum GPA for a transfer/bidge student to be considered for the program was a 3.8. I was very confused by this by this because the MDC website says a 2.0 is the minimum. I asked to make sure that this was an average student admitted gpa.But the adviosr confirmed it was bare minimum. So which is the minimum required GPA? I was told by him that I would not be eligible even though I have a GPA of 2.99. I was also told by him that I would not be eligible even though I currently go to FIU and have completed 51 out of there almost 54 credits including all of the credits the MDC website states the school requires minus the PPE 1005 and CGS 1060. He told me that those were MDC courses but the website says that they can be taken concurrently with your nursing programs. Can someone clarify this with me PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE :nurse:.

I've heard from many people MDC has become very selective in admissions, I don't doubt it.

The bare minimum that MDC will accept is 2.0, but you have to understand that there there are hundreds of students applying. Student selection is based almost entirely on GPA. So, if there are 100 students applying for 20 spots, the ones that have the highest GPAs will be chosen, even though those with a 2.0 or 3.0...still meet MDC's admissions standards.

The adviser is right. Last semester's cut off was about 3.8. Selection is based solely on GPA.... like the above poster said, if there are 100 people applying and there are only 20 spots, the people with the highest are going to get accepted. Even if that means the highest 20 are 4.0 or 3.9!!! MDC is very competitive. I think you should really boost your GPA if you are aiming for MDC...

The ugly truth is that if you dont have at least a 3.5 they throw ur application in the garbage. I just got accepted into the LPN program at miami-dade. I graduated from UF with a 2.3 (i didnt know what i wanted to do and by the time i did it was too late to change over to nursing). There was no chance i was going to get into the RN program so I had to figure out another way to become an RN. i stumbled across the LPN program. To be accepted all you need to do is take an entrance exam and score in the top 50. The LPN program is 1 year (half of the RN program) after that you have a better chance of getting into an LPN-RN bridge program (which is only one more year). There are tons of ways to get ur RN degree once u already have an LPN licensure. Hopefully u r a good test taker. If they shut the door on you find another way in. If you really want to be a nurse you will always find a way.
