They just changed the requirements for the RN program at MDC. The TEAS test will now be 60% of the deciding factor of getting into the program along with 40% of ur Natural Science courses GPA (only). This starts in Spring 2011 though =/

I am so freaking ecstatic about these new requirements. I had to go the LPN route first at MDC because of the cumaltive gpa requirement. The requirements for the LPN program were to take the PAX-PN test. Top 50 (out of 400 apparently) scores got into the program. This is going to make it much easier for the "right" people to get into the nursing program. 4.0 cumalative gpas eat ur heart. WOOHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, I have talked to an advisor at MDC and these new requirements start in Spring 2011 (september deadline). Good luck to you all

no problem. i know i wish i had someone tell me things before i got into the program. I looked all over this website for something on the MDC LPN program. I didnt find anything with any good information on it. I think its funny when people copy and paste what the school website says. Like I never thought of looking at the website myself. Makes me smile

i think i heard back from them in June. Good Luck. Oh also if/when u get in stay away from the North Shore clinical sites.

Im currently in the MDC LPN program. Im not sure how long the one at Lindsey Hopkins is but the one at MDC is fall spring and summer. as far as pre reqs u need to take the TEAS (if u dont have an AA), u have to have Intro to healthcare and then take the PAX-PN exam. The lowest score in my class was a 137. If you have any more questions just ask away good luck getting into the program and if you do STAY FROM MRS. BROWN!!!!!!!

"for some teachers critcal thinking means dont think to hard" i totally agree, heres an example from one of my exams A nurse walks in on a patient's family member performing a religious ritual at the the patients bedside. At the end of the ritual the family member cracks an egg open and leaves it under the patient's bed in a pan. As a nurse you should A. notify maintenance and ask them to clean up the egg B. tell the family member that they are not aloud to place the egg under the patients bed C. leave the egg under the bed D. tell the patient that this ritual will not do anything for their health the correct answer is C because as a nurse u have to respect the beleif and culture of ur patients. So if the patient beleives that having an egg under their bed will make them better, then leave the egg under the bed. My classmates and I always seem to over analyze our test questions, maybe for mistrust of the teacher (shes trying to trick us into chossing the worng answer LMAO) or just over active brains during testing. We now have our own euphenism when it comes to over analyzing things "just leave the egg under the bed":D

Im at MDC right now for my RN degree and I soon as i finish I will be hitting up nursing unlimited. Go to their website. The offer PALS ACLS and a whole bunch of other certifications. Its going to cost u a nickel and a dime but its better than staying home just applying to jobs. Gets some certifications and u will get the jobs. Hell I think I might even go get my ACLS and PALS before I graduate. If you dont want to get those certifications fine. You will be competing with new grads such as myself that will have those certifications. Please by all means just keep doing what ur doing. It will make my chances of finding a job easier. Insanity is making the same mistakes over and over again with out making a change. Do something different because what ever ur doing now is not enough or its just not working. Complacency is the enemy of success.

ur best bet is to go talk with an advisor at the medical campus. I too would like some info on LPN-RN bridge program. Im starting the LPN program at MDC this month.

The ugly truth is that if you dont have at least a 3.5 they throw ur application in the garbage. I just got accepted into the LPN program at miami-dade. I graduated from UF with a 2.3 (i didnt know what i wanted to do and by the time i did it was too late to change over to nursing). There was no chance i was going to get into the RN program so I had to figure out another way to become an RN. i stumbled across the LPN program. To be accepted all you need to do is take an entrance exam and score in the top 50. The LPN program is 1 year (half of the RN program) after that you have a better chance of getting into an LPN-RN bridge program (which is only one more year).There are tons of ways to get ur RN degree once u already have an LPN licensure. Hopefully u r a good test taker. If they shut the door on you find another way in. If you really want to be a nurse you will always find a way.
