MD Anderson Residency

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi everyone,

I received an interview for the MD Anderson Clinical Nurse Residency Program starting hopefully mid-March. I'm incredibly nervous because this is my first call back.

Anybody have any tips on... How the interviews are conducted? How many are interviewed? What units at the hospital are available to work in? And did anybody else get an interview?

Thanks!

not sure if my info is correct but one of the HR people I spoke with said they're interviewing maybe 80 people for hiring 40. sounds like a lot of new hires to me

That sounds about right. I was told they would probably be hiring 30-40 people and for the summer about the same & possibly more depending on unit needs. For those who have yet to receive a call make sure you apply for the other clinical nurse residency that states "april/may graduates". I know someone who never got a call from HR after her 1st app but applied again for the summer & got a HR interview then. By time she got called for the panel interview (3-4 wks later) she had already accepted a position at another hospital. It may take longer than you'd like but keep trying!

Yea I had a memory lapse myself but other than that I did ok. Whew...the waiting game begins but God is in control! I will continue to wait for their response. Thank you guys so much and Good LUCK to everyone else:)

I have no idea how my interview went. Didn't seem bad but it was hard to tell. I had the video interview and I couldn't really see who was talking, all blurry. Just hope i didn't look weird on their side lol.

I'm a little surprised they're not completely on EMRs. She said it's a mix of paper and computer, ug. And she said they're hiring for almost any unit. Good luck to everyone!

Chelseafm almost any unit? Wow thats very good to hear! What units did you request to work in?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to apply for the next round. Besides online application, are there any other requirements I will need to submit (i.e. Letters of Reference, Transcripts)? Is there a GPA requirement?

Thanks!

I'm open to working anything so I told them that

Don't believe there is a gpa requirement nor do you need to submit anything besides a resume along with the application. If you have reference letters it wouldn't hurt to attach as well or bring with you once called for an interview.

Ok I told them I am open to everything as well!

Hi everyone! I applied on February 16 and got a call the following week. I had my phone interview this past monday (March 4). She said that she needs to speak with the panel and find out when the next panel interviews will be, and that she will call me by the end of this week or early next week with a second interview date. Did anybody else hear anything similar? I am out of state and she said I would be having a video interview, and that it was fairly common that they do that. I am super nervous. I have never done a panel interview before. Does anybody have an experience they would like to share?

Good luck all!

When do you graduate? Did you apply for the April/May grads one? I just applied for that one yesterday. Let us know how it goes! Good luck.

I graduated in December. I initially had a position in PA but I ended up turning it down because the start date was during my wedding and honeymoon. My husband and I want to get out of this cold weather anyway, so it is for the best.

I did apply for the April/May grads one. I feel like they were pretty quick in calling me back, so hopefully it will be the same for you! Keep me updated!

Hey congrats on your interview. My experience wasn't bad...I hope lol. They ask a lot of questions dealing with your clinical experience in school so make sure you have examples! For example, how did you handle working a person who may not like you. Other than that smile and stay calm lol
