MCPHS Spring 2009

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

I just found out that I was accepted into MCPHS for spring of 09'. I am so excited and I can't wait to begin.

I am wondering if anyone else has been accepted or is applying!

Cassie

I just found out that I got in too! Im really excited but now I need to apply for fin aid and all that. Does anyone know how I go about doing that? Do I have to do it through MCPHS?? Thanks so much!

Erin

Hey, I didn't do so hot in my undergrad either and my gpa was a 2.73 but my pre-reqs were MUCH better. So as long as your pre-reqs are strong and your recommendations are strong (you should get professors to give them to you) then you should be ok.

Hi Guys!

I was just recently accepted. I can't wait to find out more information. Has anyone tried getting loans as a second bachelor seeking student yet?

Hey Erin,

I just filled out the Student Financial aid stuff yesterday so it will probably be a while until i find out. Do you think it will matter if it's our 2nd bachelor's degree?

Erin

CONGRATS Erin! I filled out my financial Aid stuff a while ago and have still yet to hear from them. Arg!

With some loans and grants it does matter that it is your second bachelors, but not all of them.

Does anyone have a clue when orientation is?

When you guys say you filled out fin aid forms, are you talking about your FAFSA? or something else I have not gotten yet? The guy in FinAid said that most students can get funding, but I've had friends at other schools have problems with the 2nd bachelor thing. Just a little nervous. Do you know how many people will be in our class? Are you guys all from Mass? I'm moving from Florida. So, I have not gotten a chance to visit the school yet.

i got accepted as well but i havent made a final decision as to which school im going to attend! is it hard to find housing in worcester? and is it expensive? im from new york, so a move will definitely be in order

I'm really new to this site I dont know how to post but I live in California. I'm looking for schools in Boston and some of my friends suggested MCPHS. I'm majoring in nursing so I wanted to know how good of a program they have there. In California, nursing is an impacted major and it's very competitive to get in. I'm not sure if it's the same way in Massachusetts. Are there any other schools besides MCHPS that I should look into for nursing? I know most of the schools have the program but what would be the best? Thanks!

Hi, I got accepted into the program too for Jan 09 and Im still waiting for fin aid info and what else to do. Does anyone have any new news? Also, I'm planning on not working either while in school but don't know how to go about taking out personal loans. Do any of you guys know? Thanks!

Erin

Hey everyone!

Congrats to everyone on getting accepted! I haven't posted for a while, my name is michelle and I was also accepted for jan '09 and I'm very excited to start. Not so excited however for the cost of this school or for the studying but I figure its only 16 months long so how bad could it be right?! Erin ya doing financial aid is filling out the FAFSA then that gets sent to the school and it is applying for aid (the free $) and stafford loans- so thats what you will get when the financial aid package comes in the mail. I spoke with Lynn from the financial aid office and he said they should start sending out the financial aid packages early october- when you get it will prob depend on when you filled out the FAFSA I'm assuming?...but not too much longer to wait- i'm getting antsy waiting for that! I haven't started applying for personal loans yet because I figure better to wait and see whats in the aid package to know how much more I need. I think if you got financial aid for your 1st bachelor degree then you aren't qualified to get it for the 2nd one, but you can still get stafford loans and personal loans.

I looked at the calendar online and it looks like orientation is the 9th of jan and classes start the 12th but I don't know if thats right. Santa419-I'm from the worcester area and housing isn't hard to find there are a ton of apartments for rent in worcester it just depends on how much you want to spend- check out craigslist there are usually some good ones on there. I would stay out of the main st in worcester area- its not the greatest area but prob lower prices.

Krysology- there are alot of good schools in Ma for nursing. there is a 16mnth program at MCPHS worcester-which I think most of the people here are looking into. Are you just looking at boston? Worcester state is another good one-4yr cheaper has a good reputation. There is also Fitchburg state college- 4yr had a friend who did that one and liked it alot, quinsigg college-2yr program but quite the wait list, Umass Amherst has a good nursing program 4yr as well, also Boston college, becker college and anna maria...- I know you are asking for the best- but I'm not really sure of that I think its prob hard to say unless you've been through it or know someone who has. I know people who have been through worc state, umass amherst, fitchburg state and quinsigg and they all loved all of those programs. I guess it depends on where you want to be for location, how much you want to pay, and how long you want to go for. HA that doesn't sound very helpful does it? sorry.

Anyway, Im looking forward to starting and meeting everyone!

Hey Michelle, thanks for the reply. I did get financial aid in my undergrad so I guess I wont be getting much aid this time around. We'll see though since you said they will send out the packages soon. I wonder if Lynn would have loan resources for us to contact once we know how much we need to get.

I can't wait to just start!:specs:

Best,

Erin

Hey Erin!

Ya I'm sure he would have loan resources for us- its worth asking anyway. I just want to get everything squared away so I know its paid for lol. I can't wait to start either! :nurse:
