Hi all,
I am starting the MCPHS Accelerated BSN program in Worcester next January. I was wondering if there are any students currently in the program on this forum-if so I would like to hear what others think (positive and negative feedback) about the program. Any insight is appreciated! Thanks!
Right now we have 33 or so students. Started with around 40 or so and some left for personal reasons and others didn't maintain the 2.7 cum gpa or minimum C grade in any class to stay. My undergrad gpa was 3.7, but i'm pretty sure that most people just had above a 3.0. We are a younger class, average age is around 25 with a few the high in their young 30s. There are some students that just graduated in 2008, and others who have worked for a few years prior to starting the program. Most of the students are caucasian and female. There is some diversity with asian women and there are 5 males in the class. Hope that helps.
Hi I would like to hear more about the program. I'm thinking in applying for fall class 2011. Can you give me any advice how to keep up with the readings and study for exams. Any help is appreciated.
Good luck with your sudies!
:yeah:Congrats! First on your choice of a wonderful career. Notice I wrote career and not job! Nursing is an ongoing learning experience. That said, let me get to your question.....MCPHS has both accelerated and a post High School entry program. I did not see which you are beginning. If you are in the accelerated program, this is a very challenging program that you will need to devote every bit of your time to. They do not hold your hand and take you through the program. You will work hard and earn every bit of your BSN. In the end you will be a well training beginner RN. If you are fresh out of High School and attending Boston, the course is completely different and you will be afforded the time to understand the basics of Nursing, fundamentals, A&P, Pharm and Theory. You will need to decide if you are willing to devote the time and money. In the end you will have your RN, you may need to leave New England to get your first job....your career will begin when you decide what type of nurse interests you, then decide what will distinguish you from the rest. For instance...PICC nurse, Dialysis, ED, PICU, Air Transport, Forensic.....you can go 1000 directions....if you become an RN and wait for things to happen....welcome to your J O B:zzzzz
ALL THE BEST...Nurse for 18 years and loving it!
