How are the classes? How long do it take to get in the program?

Hi Amber- Which program are you interested in, LPN or RN? If RN, then I suggest starting to work on taking the TEAS (you'll need to do 4 parts- Math, English, Reading, Science), getting your FAFSA done and completing your pre-req's (if needed). For MCI's RN program, they currently require scores over the following on the TEAS: Math 55, Reading 85, Science 55, English 60.

The next RN class is May 14. They require College Algebra, College Chemistry and a Computers course for prerequisites. I'm currently taking the algebra at MCI and will be taking chemistry after this class is over. Each pre-req class that you take there is 5 weeks long. There is no cost up front for the those courses, unless you fail them or don't decide to go into the RN program/don't get accepted; otherwise, the costs of the books and classes get wrapped into your financial aid package when you start the program. So technically, your financial aid doesn't need to be complete to do the pre-reqs, which means... jump on those classes asap if you need them! If you already have the classes to transfer in, then you should start working on getting those evaluated along with completing your financial aid. They also require an essay and 3 letters of reference to be considered for acceptance (which is what I'm working on while taking my pre-reqs). If you don't complete everything required for the May 14 start, then they have another one around the Aug/Sep timeframe I believe.

The LPN program is different as far as the admissions requirements. I didn't sit for that information session, but I do know you only have to complete 2 parts of the TEAS. And acceptance into the program isn't as lengthy. Someone mentioned earlier though, that if you don't receive high enough scores on the TEAS, then they will automatically want to put you in the LPN program. If that's not what you want, then you can always retake the TEAS and work on making good grades in your pre-reqs.

this program is a joke, if you have real prior experience its a breeze. problem is they are money hungry and none of your credits will transfer but to a select few schools. to top it of its very hard to find a job even with real global medical field experience unless you would like to work in a nursing home. i am actually done with the program and now scrambling to find a job and probably going to have to relocate. good choice if you dont want to get paid a respectable wage and REALLY just need a JOB but good luck. you can also talk to the directors who will look you in the face and fill you with empty lies just to get you out of their office. at the end of the day its all about the mighty dollar bill. please go to odu or nsu and get your bsn save money and time in the long run.

I graduated the MCI Newport News program on January 26, 2012. The program is tough!! We went through alot and it is VERY expensive. But at the end of the day I have my RN. I'm going to go for my BSN and will be searching for schools that will accept MCI's credits, at least some of them, so I can accomplish them. All schools have their drawbacks and I have no regrets for choosing MCI. If any one here has any questions, feel free to ask.

missmarbe,

Congrats on graduating!! Have you taken your NCLEX yet? How is the job search going for you? I'm praying just to make it through med-surg1. Any tips?

Thanks!

Good luck to all that are planning on attending or are in the MCI RN program. I graduated in 2011 and had a job contingent upon passing boards before I graduated.

You will get out of what you put into this program and any nursing program for that matter. As long as you are dedicated and willing to work hard, especially when you graduate, you will be fine.

This school is tough because of the intensity of the classes, but it can be done. Just remember, there is light at the end of the tunnel and there will be a job for you out there in some capacity if you tenacious enough to search for one.

Has anyone been able to bridge to bsn at another school with the mci rn degree

Specializes in Oncology, Clinical research.

Yes, plenty of students have gone on to do their BSN. I'm currently enrolled through ODU, several of my classmates are enrolled elsewhere. Depending on the program, you may need to retake micro and a couple other gen eds. I didn't need to because I had taken them through other colleges prior to going to MCI.

Im in the process of going to ODU now all of my classes from MCI transferred even the chemistry class

Did you do the rn or lpn program at ecpi

I did the RN program

Hello do anyone have any notes for the mci RN. Prerequisites any chemistry and algebra notes
