Thanks, & congrats to you as well!!! I know you are just as excited!! I think we all know within ourselves what is the right thing to do. At least you seem to have been in a position where you could move.
I never applied to the Augusta campus either, only Athens. I had even checked no to the box on whether I would choose it if I didn't get my preferred choice. So I was a bit shocked back in Feb. when I first got my acceptance letter to Augusta, & then after I said no, still getting TWO phonecalls! I think it's great though, that they do still give the option, & it really lifted my spirits by them calling me b/c the lady was so nice & was just wanting to offer it to me so I could start this yr. rather than have to reapply. She also made me feel so confident by telling me that they wanted students like me, & that I was indeed qualified for Athens, but it just got full quickly as it was highly competitive this yr. I just thank God that I stuck to my gut instinct, because He had something better in store for me! I truly did get very fortunate!
Best wishes to ya, & enjoy what is left of our break! :)

Hi there. I am currently in my third week at MCG's nursing program. Hate to break bad news to you but a low GPA might make it difficult to get into the Athens Campus. At GPC I had a 4.0, was in the Honor Society, on the Dean's List, and was voted Student of the Semester, and I still did NOT get into the Athens Campus. So I am not sure what it takes to get in there. I was put on the waiting list so I decided to come to the Augusta campus. Maybe I didn't get in because my SAT scores were just average. I don't know.
Either way, be sure to keep options open. I am married and have a house in the Athens are and I really thought there was no way I could do the Augusta campus. However, since that was the only option I had, I managed to work with it and this arrangement may be for the better. So far it is working out great and I just have to take out student loans and visit the hubby on weekends. But you have to look on the bright side, it is only for 2 years and after all the breaks they give it is actually just a little under 1.5 years. Definitely worth the sacrifice since I will get a BSN RN instead of an ADN at any other school. Plus Augusta is just awesome!! I visited the downtown this past weekend and I LOVE it - has a way better downtown than Athens. (Sorry Athens peeps)
thank you so much for your response! Yah i go to UGA and the curriculum there is just ridiculously hard, I am good in all the other areas of the application im just scared im lacking in the GPA area!
Hi there!
I am a student at the Athens campus! It is true that you need a competitive GPA, but keep in mind that they look at everything as a whole, so don't lose hope just yet. My core nursing GPA is 3.8, but as a whole, it is only close to 3.5. This is only because I had a class that a WF transferred into an F due to an illness that caused me to miss a big exam that I didn't get to make up. So, I have almost a 3.5 WITH that F, but if you take it out--which I didn't need that class for nursing school, as it was an unrelated class I took before I changed majors--it is a 3.8, close to 3.9. They say that they take the overall GPA, but in my case, I think it was overlooked b/c I could explain the one bad grade I had, and they also look at the overall trend of your GPA. I have always heard that they also go really heavily on the essay portion, etc. I am a good writer, so that worked in my favor, and might in yours. Also, if you have any experience/volunteer work, it will help. I actually had none and still got in. However, when I first got accepted, I got accepted to the Augusta campus and the choice to be put on the alternate list for Athens. Even though it was a long shot, I had to take the alternate list as I couldn't move to Augusta, and lo and behold, I got in. I hope this helps, and keep your chin up--if you are meant to go there, it will work out for ya! :) I know God was in it for me, and MCG SONAT is where I was meant to end up! Just make sure you apply as early as possible as that will also help you out.
Best wishes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
