MCC, OCC students, question....

Published

Hello all, I am wondering if there is anyone here who are attending either Oakland Community or Macomb Community College. I am trying to decide which one to go to, so anyone who wants to share their experience, positive or negative, I think that would be helpful. I am most interested in if you feel the instructors are of a good quality where you go, and if you feel you are getting a good education. Thank you.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

Nicole. I'm starting at MCC in October and I have a quick question...For 1630,1730 and 1830 (loveley clinicals) in the schedule of classes it says additional time in the lab is required but doesn't say when..Was a specific time given to you or is it whenever the lab is open? Thanks for any info..

When you go to your first clinical day you will find out when you have lab. They are assigned days that you go. There is also a board across from the nursing office that will tell you when your first clinical meeting will be and where it will be.

Thanks again Nicole!

Hello, MCC RN students. Anyone know Kieth? I took pre-req's with him, but I had to switch school and lost touch. Let him know Mark will start Kirtlands RN program in Jan 07. Had to take more pre-req's UGGHHHHH. Funny how you have all the pre-req's for one school but have to do others and a new school. A shout out to all the other students in class.

I wonder how you guys are doing? You take the pre-req's and get excited about doing this. Now here we are, were doing it. FINALLY.

Talk later.

Dabuggy

can you tell me what class are required to apply for mcc adn program.

I am currently taking my pre-req's at MCC and have to take the HESI this winter. I was wondering if anyone can give me some tips on the test and if the HESI study guide is any good. I am also trying to figure out what school to go to, MCC OR OCC. OCC you do not have to take the HESI and it does not go by your GPA. Once you complete your pre-req's you are put on the waiting list and when your name is up it's your turn. I have also heard at MCC they have not accepted anyone into the program with less than a 3.8 GPA because there are so many applicants to choose from. Either program has atleast a year wait to get in.

P.S. If there is anyone that is going to OCC or graduated from there let me know if you have any tips.

I have no idea about OCC's program, other than I heard it's easier to get into than MCC. I'm glad you said that a 3.8 GPA might get me into MCC's program, everyone else says 4.0 :uhoh3: . I have a 3.9 that I want to try and keep while taking anatomy. Brave, aren't I :wink2: ? What classes are you taking right now? I am in anatomy.

Hello Leigh,

I would suggest applying to both programs. I am a MCC Nursing student and I can tell you that you CAN get in to the Program with a 3.8 (esp. if you do well on the HESI) The HESI is a fairly easy exam, but it is worth brushing up on your basic math, grammar, and vocab.

Good Luck to you!!

Hello all,

This question is for MCC students present and pass. Which A&P course did you take BIOL-2310 or BIOL-2710, and why? Thanks, trying to decide which one to take.

I just started 2710 and I chose that one because it had different prereqs than the other, I didn't need biology to take it. I highly recommend getting into Professor Ragland's class if you can, she is awesome!

You should be just fine with a 3.9, you just need to score high on the Hesi exam because that is still 50% of what they go by. I have 3 classes right now, BIO 1000, BIO 1400, and Psyc 1010. I took the BIO 1000 because they changed the Microbiology class and you need to have BIO before you can take that class. I am going to be taking anatomy next semester. Are you taking any other classes now? They say you should only take anatomy because it is so demanding. Good luck with everything.
