MCC, OCC students, question....

Published

Hello all, I am wondering if there is anyone here who are attending either Oakland Community or Macomb Community College. I am trying to decide which one to go to, so anyone who wants to share their experience, positive or negative, I think that would be helpful. I am most interested in if you feel the instructors are of a good quality where you go, and if you feel you are getting a good education. Thank you.

I was just accepted into Macomb's Nursing program. I have been happy with my classes and feel as prepared as I can be at this point! My main reason for starting at Macomb was the proximity to where I live. In my first biology class my professor raved about the nursing program and said they had an excellent pass rate on the NCLEX. One bonus is that Macomb only requires one semester of English comp. and they don't require Chemistry for the ADN program!

I'm also at Macomb and I think that it's a great program. It's very well organized, the instructors are great, and the NCLEX pass rate is high. Like the previous poster said, there aren't a ton of prereqs for the program, but it is very competitive and hard to get into.

I am a graduate of MCC 1995. It was a fast paced program, but prepared us well for the boards. I would think that the programs are similar. I would probably go with the county you live in, as tuition would be cheaper.

Good luck, Kim

Apply to both. You always need a backup plan :)

Hi Nicole!

How far into the program are you? I will be starting this fall. Any tips or advice?

I just finished med-surg, you can PM me if you'd like. I can answer any questions you have that way.

Nicole,

I sent you a PM.

Thanks!

I graduated from MCC program just 2 months ago (March of 06 class) and I really can't say more great things about the program. It was very fast paced but very doable in my opinion. I am getting ready to take the NCLEX tomorrow and am reasurred that MCC has a very high pass rate on it. I'm willing to answer any questions you might have as well.

Becky,

first, let me say good luck on the test...granted.. you are probably taking the thing as I type this. I am currently taking my pre reqs at MCC and plan on applying for the nrs prg this fall. Your comments about the program make me feel that I have made a good choice in MCC's prg. Again, good luck on the NCLEX.

Frank,

Good luck to you! I just attended orientation for Macomb on Tuesday and our class is made up of 20% men! They said that is the highest yet :)
