Just wondering if anyone has experience with this program? It is not the New Graduate Residency but rather the 8 week summer program that you can do while still in nursing school. I'm very interested in applying to this as I think it will be a great learning opportunity and exposure. I do worry that you have to be available for any and all shifts because I will still have some of my BSN courses over the summer which I won't be able to miss. Curious to see what others know about the program.

Interesting! This is new information to me. Can you post a link to this? How did you find out about this program? I'd also love to hear from anyone that has done this in the past.
Here's a link: http://www.mayoclinic.org/jobs/internships/student-nurse-extern-summer-program/overview
A couple quick points:
-Transcripts are needed to apply
-Have to be a junior, so currently completing block 3 if at the CC's.
-It's an 8 week assignment where you work 3 shifts a week
-Unpaid
-Many specialty areas and you can voice your preference if selected for an interview
Honestly, I came across it by chance. I was googling AZ student nurse externships to see if anything came up and I found this! I had never heard of it before so it was really exciting to find.

Hey guys! I did the Summer externship this last summer and would love to answer any questions that you may have. I would definitely recommend this program because I felt like those extra 300 hours of experience helped when applying to jobs and made me feel a lot more competent in my care! For those who are planning to apply, good luck! :)
Thank you! I sent you a PM with some questions about the program. I submitted my application today. Anyone else apply? Application deadline is tomorrow.
