Did anyone apply for this summer externship? I saw a lot of previous threads but none from this year! How do people think the application went?! I'm anxiously waiting!

I wonder if they go through each one individually and change the status right after if they offer you a spot... Mine still hasn't moved from application in review though :/ maybe your classmate applied earlier and they already scored it?

Mine still says "open" and "application in review" as well

Yeah she applied in early December so that could be! Best of luck to all. If anyone hears of anything else, be sure to post!

Is this for the Summer III positions? I will be eligible for the summer 2016 session...I can't wait until I am eligible for an opportunity like that!!

Yep, this is for Summer III! I was one of those last-minute submitters, and last night I opened an email from Mayo with bated breath. But it was just saying that everything in my application was complete. Silly me! But it's still good to know that my instructor recommendation didn't go astray or anything. I should probably stop obsessing about the Mayo program and work on studying for the Pharm and Med-surg tests I have coming up!

I also applied! Submitted my application back in late December. Application is still in review! I have a 3.5 nursing gpa so a bit worried that is so low on the spectrum. Hoping that my international experiences and thorough essays will pull the weight! Good luck everyone! Looks like in past threads that people started hearing their status around mid-late February.

I submitted my application in December as well. My nursing GPA is a 3.6, so close to yours. My cumulative GPA is much higher, a 3.94. I am worried about my lack of job experience. However, I do a lot of volunteer work and other unpaid positions that strengthen my resume. I am hoping we find out in early February!

My cumulative GPA is a 3.9 and my nursing GPA is a 4.0, but I have zero extra-curriculars because of family care obligations. Hoping the GPA and essays will pull me through. Fsnurselaur9, I don't think the lack of job experience will count against you. Most people applying to the program are young, and will have minimal, if any, work experience.

Anatomically, that's true! I feel like they probably weigh the essays highly, since it serves as their "interview process" in a way. I hope we all get it! Good luck to everyone!

I have a 3.82 GPA which I heard anything above a 3.75 gives you a perfect score for the GPA portion. Also, I spent a lot of time on the essays since that really is the interview. Mine were pretty long and very detailed. I don't have a ton of "medical work experience" but I have lots of work experience and hold over 5 big leadership volunteer positions. Hoping they look at all of that stuff, too!

I volunteer at an elementary school nurses office, interned with the county health department, studied art and its healing benefits in Italy last summer and worked on a medical campaign in Peru this past winter. I wrote about this in my essays and hoping it will pull the weight of my 3.5 nursing gpa! With the 1000+ applications they get, I really wonder who is doing all the essay reading!

Hi everyone! I am anxiously awaiting to hear back from them as well! I think I was the only one from my program to apply. My essays were each 2-3 pages double spaced. I don't have paid health care experience but I do have volunteer experience. Nursing is my second degree so I hope they like that I am not a "traditional" student. My GPA is a 3.7, but I was reading on here that last year someone with a 3.4 got accepted while someone with a 4.0 was rejected, so who knows! I think it really does depend on the essays and faculty reference. Good luck everybody!
