Hello, I recently applied to Mayo Clinic's RN residency program in Arizona. I am wondering if there is anyone else out there who has applied... Hoping we can stay in contact with interview prospects and acceptances!
Is there any members on here that have already interviewed for the Med/Surg Residency? I would be very interested in learning about how the whole process goes. Are there REALLY 22 med/surg positions and was the 90 (including both med/surg and critical care)? Are all 90 applicants being interviewed?
Thanks for any replies/answers
Soon2bBSNgrad,
I know it's hard, but try to stay positive and not beat yourself up. Nobody ever feels 100% comfortable going into interviews. They are there for the sole purpose of evaluating and it can be scary. Also, they expect that we are new graduates and are not going to answer everything perfectly at this point which is why we are applying for a residency program. And who knows, they may have been more quiet because they were in awe of your awesomeness!
Soon2BSNgrad,
Yes, I already did my interview! I feel pretty good about it but in all honesty I am trying not to think about it too much because I know it will take a while to hear back and I don't want to drive myself insane worrying about it lol how has everyone else been feeling about their interviews? have you all been interviewing at other places or waiting to hear what mayo will say? let's keep each other updated especially when people start hearing back about hiring decisions!!
I had my interview for med/surg this week and thought the interview was one of the more challenging I have encountered. The patient scenarios were not something I was expecting and other jobs I applied for did not have these types of questions. I was told 3 weeks for decisions. They will finish interviewing this week (before Memorial Weekend) and then regroup to review candidates and interviews next week and then pass those they want to extend offers to over to HR who then will contact the candidate by telephone. Those not accepted will receive an email the following week. I know a few others who interviewed and we all had different questions. I would love to know how many people in total they interviewed.

Mostly behavioral. Be prepared for some sort of patient scenario.
