With a new job in my future and full time now being 4-10 hour days, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to use the 5th day of the week to increase any income. I'm currently toying with the idea of some adjunct work, or maybe some per diem urgent care work. Just wondering if anyone is doing anything really interesting? Sitting at home just isn't gonna cut it.

Thanks

Depending on where you are, you may find some moonlighting work (or Per Diem). I have done some myself - picking up hours in another hospital and picking up hours in another specialty. Some of the NP's I work with have permanent Per Diem positions, have done some consulting as expert witnesses on legal proceedings, have done some teaching as clinical faculty, and have done some CE presentations for NP conferences. There are many options.

I do hospice face-face visits but I currently have Fridays off until I get the official acceptance letter from this community health clinic. Then I will do visits on Saturday prior to noon so the rest of my weekend will be free.

If you ask me, teach. I work as a nurse practitioner 3 nights a week in my ICU practice and also took a part-time lecturer position to give back to the profession (and the money is great as well).

All of the previous suggestions were good ones.

I would add that if you are really looking for a way to make some extra money without bringing any work home with you, retail clinics pay very well per diem.

I also have a 4 day schedule, and just started working per-diem in Urgent Care. I'm only obligated to work 1 shift per month, so I still have plenty of free time. I'll probably work 3-4 shifts per month, but I like not being tied to every Saturday, or something similar. Retail clinics do pay well, but they want you to work almost every weekend. I didn't want to commit to that. Best of luck in your search!
