Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

I have math 1301 and my capstone left fro my RN to BSN . I had to drop 1302 last semester because I could not keep up. I haven't had algebra in 20 years. Has anyone taken this class and how hard is it?? Also, does anyone have the syllabus. I will be taking 1301 and capstone together starting in march. I am very worried as math is not easy for me. Any help appreciated!!

Are your books still for sale? Also, do I need to buy both books if not can you tell me which one to buy? You can either respond on here or email at [email protected]

Thanks in advance.

Did you need to buy both books? If not which book did you buy?

Did you have to buy both math books or just the one

Math w/Appl Package?

Thanks,

Natalie

The option of Contemporary Math as an alternative to College Algebra at UTA is fairly new as I have been trying to finish my last 4 classes. Two of which are both math, Algebra and stats. THAT said I will go to Dallas Community College District and complete those there....reasonable fee and they are part of the Texas Common Core so they positively transfer over to UTA. Also they have a co-req with the CM class which is to help you SUCCEED! Unlike other colleges. However I am super happy for #UTARNBSN to recognize the difficulty and barrier that Algebra was. Especially with the POOR math programs THANK YOU.

PS I hope this will help at least one person who has struggled like me! Also get Barbara Oakelys book “A Mind for Numbers.” Fab! ❤️❤️❤️ UTA and TexasEd system.

I had to drop 1301. I was working on it 30 or more hours a week and still wasn’t getting it. It would take hours to complete the homework once you got to the algebra and stats section. I was missing time with my family and feeling like I was going to fail, so I dropped the course. I will take the time to do math and stats at my local community college.

Go to Dallas Comm College District and take Quantitative Math there in place if Algebra! UTA has changed the requirement to that. Then do Estats and transfer back....exactly what I am doing now. Texas ED System is the best. Period.

I am just throwing my 2 cents in here- I would take MATH 1308 Stats at your local community college, because YIKES! It was the hardest class I have ever taken in my life! Everyone warned me to take it locally, but I ignored their warnings and took the 16 week class at UTA. It was the longest 4 months of my life! Don't get me wrong- I loved the professor and the coach because they both did a phenomenal job. If you take MATH 1308 at UTA, make sure it is the only class you take that semester/term. I took Algebra and Contemporary Math many years ago with my other degree so thank God, I got those out of the way a long time ago. Good luck!
