Math 1301 UTA HARD?

Published

I have math 1301 and my capstone left fro my RN to BSN . I had to drop 1302 last semester because I could not keep up. I haven't had algebra in 20 years. Has anyone taken this class and how hard is it?? Also, does anyone have the syllabus. I will be taking 1301 and capstone together starting in march. I am very worried as math is not easy for me. Any help appreciated!!

I would like to know the exact same thing. I'm in the same boat as you are. All I have left is Algebra and capstone and I'm finished. I tried to take 1302 twice but the course load is ridiculous and I work more than 40 hrs per week so it just wasn't doable.

I too would appreciate ANY information on this class!!!

Try to see if you can take it through your local CC. Good luck!

Hello! I was in your same at, i fell behind in that algebra class so fast. I am now taking the 1301 and it is SO MUCH BETTER!!! I have an A in the class and the other class i know I would have failed!! The class is way more manageable and the material more real world relatable. I wish that they stressed that this class is available to us, because i wasted both time and energy trying to take the other class!

Hello,

When I took College Algebra 1302, I was ready to drop it. I was able to hire a tutor which I thought would be more cost effective then losing my money, and then to only retake the class, costing me more money. It worked, but it is the only way I would have passed. The course is solely self learning, and assumes you already know the basics, which for many of us was many years ago in high school. Very difficult online, even with a tutor. And I took the class when there was still an option to do it for 12 weeks vs 8 weeks, thinking the intensity would be less each week. The 8 week course, if it still has the same content, must be intense.

If I had to do it all again, this is the one course I would 100% take in person at a local college and transfer the credit. I realize you are so close to the end, but even getting with getting through the course, I would still recommend an "in person" course for Algebra, especially as you have already struggled.

If you do take algebra online, not sure if it is wise to take Capstone as well. Algebra sucks your brain, energy, concentration and the will to go on. Sorry to sound negative, just want to be honest.

I am beginning cooperative work experience and capstone on 2/23/15. Then done. So happy!!

Best of luck with however you finish, and congratulations. What a great accomplishment!!

Thank you - I talked to my student coordinator today and she says this math is much easier. Hearing another person say that helps! I am still nervous though. Did you take this class by itself.

I'm with you guys! I have this and Capstone left :/

Are you taking it now?

I just started it on Monday and Capstone next Monday

Me too and pretty nervous about it with work and all. Working on math homework now. Doesn't seem as hard right now but still lots of work for such a short period

I'm in this math right now, week 2. It is easier but it's a LOT of work and very time consuming. It is easier than the college algebra which I attempted twice and had to drop. I really wished UTA would understand that after working all day it's exhausting to come home to several hours of homework each night, then no time to actually sit and study for the upcoming test before the test is due because it's taken you all that time to get the homework done after listening to the lectures.

Overall the contemporary math is easier then the algebra but it still is time consuming.

Good morning!

It seems that Contemporary Math and/or Algebra is a stumbling block for several of us! I am not a strong math student and attempted College Algebra only to drop after 2 weeks of total failure! I am registered for Contemporary Math 1301 at UTA to begin in August but quiet nervous about another online math course. I also work full time and realize that this course will require a lot of time, which I am willing to give. Can anyone help with me with current, real-life advice? Thank you in advance!
