You know, these questions seem basic to maternal-child health nursing....were they NOT covered in your classes/books?

you need to get in those books and study!

oh and NO methergine is NOT given in presence of hypertension; it can cause hypertensive crisis.

now go study.

good luck.

That was extremely rude.

Just looking for some extra help.

Methergine has nothing to do with PIH. The question was simple....is it given postpartum?

Jeez, thanks anyways.

you call me rude til the cows come home. i am sorry you feel that way, but i expected as much......the sense of entitlement by so many is palpable anyhow. this is not news to me......but this may be to you:

i do not do homework for students..

i do an online RN-BSN completion and you can bet I do not ask others to do my research for me. YOU HAVE THE INTERNET, your BOOKS and can get NCLEX review texts to help you..somthings I did NOT have when I went to school in the mid-late 90s. the internet has come a LONG way in so few years...anyhow..

.....get a book and.....

study!

if i am rude saying this, sorry. i bet i echo your rude professors, too. i bet they would say the same things.

good luck on your final. i mean this, honestly!!!!

ps..it's a good idea not to wait til the night before your final to get this type of information. i hope you do ok. sounds like you need to burn some midnight oil.:kiss

methergine has a LOT TO DO WITH PIH.....(or it can) you see:

PIH'ers are at increased risk for pp hemorrhage and HELLP syndrome......that is known...

but you never use methergine in the presence of HIGH blood pressure. THAT I can tell you FROM experience as an OB nurse. Trust me. You would instead turn to hemabate IM or cytotec rectal, after vigorous uterine fundus massage.

1st of all I have been studying for 3 days

I know my shit and just needed some additional clearance on a question I had and I THOUGHT this is what this forum was for.

You are by NO means doing my homework for me

I AM using the internet!!.......I am coming to a website for RN's and thought maybe I would get some help....not get put down.

Thanks for nothing.

Maybe you need to get over yourself. You could have been a real help to me as an experienced OB RN. Someone I should be looking up to, but instead I think you are ignorant and pompous.

You should be ashamed of yourself for the way you acted toward a young aspiring RN looking for guidance and advice.

I carry mostly A's and some B's and am at the top of my class.

I hope you accomplished what you intended and feel better about yourself tonight.

Have a good night! :)

If you read, I did help you...I gave you information regarding methergine use and PIH.....you said one had nothing to do with the other. I politely corrected that notion. Not once did I say anything rude as far as I am concerned.....

...I am neither ignorant or pompous although I, too, graduated at the top of my class-----I really think "ignorant" would not apply in my case.

I am not ashamed or upset or surprised by your response. If you want to find this information, it's in a basic OB textbook. It's not complicated.

In OB (and any other nursing) we do research all the time. We have to find things for ourselves, looking up information from a number of sources. I cannot rely on coworkers or doctors to supply all the information for me; I have to do some of this myself. Besides, sometimes anecdotal information can be inaccurate or just plain wrong. I learned that the hard way.

I did not stoop to namecalling with you (as you did here), and am not about to begin that now.

Here is a website that has a LOT of perinatal info/facts and interchanges. It may help you out in the future if your interests or future lie in OB nursing.I use it all the time for research/information exchange myself. That and AWHONN.

http://listserv.buffalo.edu/archives/pnatalrn.html

This site while it contains anecdotal information, is still a great resource and these members can be invaluable in pointing us in the right direction for information, questions, studies in OB and so much more.

Good luck in your studies. If you have anything else to say to me, I welcome a PM from you to take this further. Until then, I invite you to review TOS since you violated them. I mean this: Best wishes.

you know, I apologize for coming off arrogant/pompous. I can see where you may feel this way from my posts. I really apologize. I do not want to be a nurse who "eats her young" really.....and my posts were not meant to be pompous......truth is:

I see so many students come here asking for answers/research project info, etc, literally trying to get us to open their heads and just pour it in there, like water. And in so many, it is obvious they did NOT even attempt to find out for themselves first. I see it oftentimes.........anyhow

from that frame of reference, I answered you. And I was out of line. I am sorry. I don't want you to feel you cannot come here for help....from me or others.........

I do want to help others "come up".....esp those who are willing to work hard and do for themselves, first.

Good luck ---I mean that in all sincerity, I really do.

Don't stay up too late studying. here are two good websites. they are for laymen, but provide good basic info.:

Good luck to you. I am glad I don't have a test to study for! I am thinking of returning to school for my MSN, but as much as I look forward to it, I also dread it.

thank you.

I totally understand where you are coming from! But I am a good student who just needed some extra help. I was in no way looking for anyone to do my work for me. I appreciate your input! I was really hoping you weren't one on those RN's who doesn't remeber what it's like to be a student! Believe I have had many of clinical experiences with those RNs. Have a good night!
