Ok for the past few weeks I've been looking for masters programs in nursing management. I'm particularly looking for online programs since I'm in the military, especially those that consider themselves military friendly. If anyone could tell me of the schools they attended and what they thought would be much appreciated.

What state are you currently in? Or does that not apply as a military person? Any way I am currently a MSN student at Western Carolina University and have so far had a very good experience. Another state university in NC is East Carolina University - again online for education and administration and even NP except for clinicals and check offs - they have a good reputation as well.

I am 3/4 of the way through the MSN at Aspen University (http://www.aspen.edu). I have been very happy with it. Affordable, good faculty, pain free courses.

Check out Drexel University online nursing programs. They do offer a discount for people in the military and their master's in nursing management program has a good reputation. drexel.edu is the web address. Good luck!

Hi, I know a lot of nursing schools have online nursing management masters programs. Some top notch schools like Johns Hopkins, Vanderbilt and others do also. I am starting an online Clinical Leadership and Management program through George Washington University this fall, therefore I can not speak to its quality yet. It is not a "nursing" management but it is a healthcare management degree. However they may have a nursing specific masters online as they have a lot of programs online. George Washington is very military friendly, they even have certain programs solely for the military. Good luck.

I earned my BSN online through South University and started a healthcare administration degree there as well. I loved South University and only dropped my master's program because I cannot afford it any longer and got too busy to handle the work. Hope to eventually finish.

I am considering the Aspen University online BSN - MSN program. How is it going? Your thoughts and advise would be appreciated.
In short, just what I said before. The classes are doable, the readings are relevant, the faculty and staff are very helpful, the tuition is cheap (especially if you get in on the current tuition special). I have been very pleased with the program.
I spoke with them today and I am waiting to hear from the program director. It is reassuring to know that 6 hours ago it came across the PRNews wire that Aspen met their CCNE accreditation. They are also featured on Advance Nurses online this evening for their recent accreditation.
Thank you very much for your immediate response. I wish you much luck. I am hopeful that starting back to school will help with the long winter in Erie, PA.
Not sure what news came out about Aspen and CCNE...they've had that for a few years. As far as I know, they are the only accredited MSN without regional accreditation.
Aspen is fast about communications. And personal. I've actually gotten emails from the President in response to fairly routine stuff. I get the impression its just a few people in an office as far as admin goes.
A long winter in PA could be good for school. One of the nice things is that you can do things at your pace; start courses the 1st or 15th of any month and finish within 10 weeks. If it only takes a few weeks, so be it (I think my record is a month, and that wasn't very difficult to swing).

HI,
I am about to start my rn to msn through Aspen University as well. How many hours a week does it take you to complete the course work? Is it doable?
Thank you.
See my reply to your post in "Masters Programs." Aspen is great!
