there are some programs that will allow you to enter with a b.s. but along the way you will end up completing the BSN requirements before you graduate with MSN. (assuming you are already and RN) other wise you could do an Accelerated BSN course because you will already have most of the gen ed requirements and just need the sciences the nursing program and maybe a few other courses. I would contact a few of the local nursing programs near you and also check online sources for BSN completion if you are already an RN.
I am a senior in njit (biomedical engineering),a non-nursing field.
I plan to join any school for ann associate or BS in Nursing.
My question: Can I obtain a BS or any degree that will help me find a job in the fieldof Nursing ?
I was looking into schools and they seem to have as their entry requirements a Bachelors of Science in NURSING from an accredited school.
Please advise!!
THANKS!!!!
I am in the same boat. I have bachelors in business and an associates in nursing at the present time.
It will depend on what type of masters you are going to get. I could easily get a masters in nursing administration without a BSN. I have looked around and found a couple of programs that offer a masters in nursing to RNs with non nursing bachelor degrees.
I haven't started doing anything yet because I just graduated in May and I'm not quite ready to go back to school. When I do, I am going to look into on-line courses.
Good Luck!

can i ask why if you're going to get a bs in bioengineering, you would now go into nursing??
seriously, in 5 years you could earn double what a nurse makes developing pacemakers etc??!!!
Do you currently have an RN? I was/am considering nursing school but got sidetracked. Anyway, I have a BA in a non nursing fieid. My ultimate goal was to become a nurse practitioner. Because I have children in the school system in NJ and my husband's job is here, going out of state to school is not an option. I found no direct entry programs into a masters of nursing without being a BSN. Now, UMDJ did start some type of bridge degree or whatever you call it. It is for people who have an associates in nursing and a bachlors in another field. You can bridge right over to a masters . I think it is new. There are no specific courses to take. You probably have to write some type of research paper of something. They give you credit for your "life" experiences, job experiences and look at all the classes you took to get your undergrad. You still need a year of experience as an RN .
