Hey guys,
I have been trying to do some soul searching and figure out exactly where I want to go with my schooling post-BSN. I have been accepted to two schools for NP or MSN-ED, but I have found myself leaning towards a masters degree outside of nursing possibly Exercise Science or Health and Human Performance. Have you known anyone who has gotten a masters outside of nursing???
Thank you!!!

The only two non-nursing Masters I can think of that could benefit a nurse professionally are MBA and MPH. If you're looking to use the degree to get out of nursing or just want to do it for the personal satisfaction, great -- but don't expect a non-nursing Master's (other than those two) to help your nursing career.

A colleague has a M.Ed. She works as a staff educator, and it's pretty clear that the degree has not suited her well to that role.
I have no desire to continue my education in Nursing. I actually want to teach, but Nurse Educator route would be very limiting and would not allow me to teach other subjects other than nursing. As far as MBA doesnt seem interesting or anyway helpful in my future goals. The MPH seems interesting. Continueing my education would be for personal satisfaction more than a pay raise.
