Salem state nursing program questions

Hi everyone, I am currently attending NSCC for my prereqs and I am almost done. I intendo to apply to salem state this fall for the Winter/Spring semester '15. I was wondering if anyone attends or attended Salem state and how the admission process was. Also, how was your typical schedule with lectures and clinicals? Were you able to work during the semesters? Any answers will be very helpful. Thank you!

Maybe we will :) . I really like that I can see what classes transferred in as so I know how it fits into the degree, and I can plan accordingly.

Congrats to you. Yes, ma'am. Spring it is for me too. I am signed up for the 11:30 AM orientation on the 12th of January. You? Will you be taking NUR 104 in the spring?

i have not paid my deposit yet so i cant sign up for orientation... What is Nur104?? I have no idea what i will be taking, im sooo excited!!!! Congratulations!!!

I would highly recommend Salem's Nursing Program!!! I just graduated from SSU in May 2014. It is a really good program, but hard to complete in 4 years. The program is 150 credits. I got my BSN and a biology minor. While i was in school i worked weekends. It is a bit hard to work during the week since clinicals are all over the place. Classes tend to be 8 am to noonish, but you wont have class every day. Clinical could be 12 hours and once or twice a week, at night, during the day. Hell, there are even weekend clinicals. It really depends on what semester you are in.Feel free to contact me with questions. As i said before, i would HIGHLY recommend SSU! Salem provided me with a solid nursing education and the NCLEX was much easier than i thought that it would be because of the education that i received.

Thanks :) I'm always 110 steps ahead of the game. NUR 104 is basically nursing 101. It's 1 credit, and we cannot take any other nursing classes until we complete it. Pay that dang thing and get started! After you pay the deposit, they will send out all of your "next steps" to start your first semester. They pretty much don't start anything until they clear that deposit. Make sure when you go to pay you look for the tab that says deposit and NOT payment. I did that, and it sent it right back to me. I was like, ***** But I called and took care of it :p Have a good night! I have an O-chem quiz at my community college in an hour. Carbohydrates. Just shoot me in the face already... (kidding!) :p

So, last i spoke to you folks i was living in MA, just got my RN License and was piecing together how to start my career. I have since moved to Florida and transferred my license. I have been here a few weeks and the job offers keep flowing. I have hospitals and assisted living places calling me/emailing me for an interview on the regular. Some of these places i have not even applied to, but my resume has got passed around. About 95% of those jobs commented on the fact that i went to Salem State... I am telling you that is the a great school and a bang for your buck!

SSU really prepares you. *************** ( one of your professors) has tests that are on par with NCLEX. When you take your boards it will seem like a breeze if you prepared. The key is to trust yourself. When you do nursing review courses with other schools you will realize just how much you learned. Hell, i paid for an ACLS class out of pocket and it was much easier than i thought (a few doctors failed it) and it seemed 'easy' because SSU prepared me for success!!!! They have many little add-ons in their programs that others don't. You wont realize how top notch the education that you received was until you are around other people in your shoes from different schools/hospitals.

Hi Mrs. D-

I am beginning this week. Who are you taking for health assessment? They are allowing me to take NUR 104 & 105 as well as Health Assessment. I am also taking biochem to fulfill their requirement for a Chem class too. I have professor Candy I believe for health assessment on Thursdays. What about you?
