MCPHS (FNP) May 2016

U.S.A. Massachusetts

I just got accepted into Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) for their FNP program (Worcester campus, online though)!! So excited! Is there anyone else that will be attending in May for this program?

Hi Susie!

I'm sorry I've just logged on now and saw this too late! - how was your interview Monday? They asked me why I wanted to advance my degree, how I will use it and to describe 3 characteristics of myself that others might say. I did email the admissions counselor to make sure they had my new mailing address and she said my admission decision has been posted and I will be receiving an email and a snail mail letter (but gave me no indication whether I got in or not!). That was Monday and it's Wednesday now...still nothing.

How did yours go?

(I still can't send private messages on this yet - if you want to email me my email is [email protected])

Hi!

I have an interview next week for the May 2017 FNP class...I was wondering if any of you could speak to your past year in the program/what does a typical week consist of?

I'm considering two other options. How is the online format? A lot of weekly papers? Do you feel as though the professors are knowledgeable and helpful?

Thanks so much!!

Congrats on your interview! I joined the MCPHS Online FNP program in May 2015 and graduate this year (May 2017). I am very happy with my decision to go to this school. It is a tough program and really requires you to put the time and effort in, but it is worth it. The first couple semesters, you will be taking all of your MSN required courses like advanced patho & pharmacology and then clinicals will start after that. I would suggest looking for placement at least 3-4 months before each rotation because, I found that, it was difficult finding placement. You will have an exam about every other week when you start taking the core FNP classes. The last 2 semesters is when the capstone project/research is completed. You have to go to campus 3 times during the program, 1 day for orientation, 2 days after first year, and 3 days after last year. The instructors and professors have been great, the communication is very good, and I have truly learned a lot. Good luck with your interview, I truly recommend the program.

Just applied to the PMHNP program for Summer 17 start. Was wondering how those who started last summer are doing? Anybody else applying for this summer?

This may not be the right thread for you efthimia. This is for the FNP program which is also a summer start. Not sure anyone on the thread is going for PMHNP. Hopefully someone is or there's another thread. Good luck!!!

Thanks for taking the time to reply, there are at least 2 people who have posted withing this long thread that they applied to the PMHNP program and were admitted, was hoping that one of them might respond,

Sorry! Didn't catch that :). Hope someone does!!

I just saw this post as I was accepted into the online FNP program for 2018...was wondering if any of you went through the program and how it was? Were you able to work full time the same time?

Hi Amanda! I'm in the program now. I'll be halfway through when you start. I so far have been able to work full time, but now clinicals are starting. I'm not sure if I'll be able to continue to work full time or not. This semester it's only 90 hours but the rest of the program clinical hours will be 180. Good luck!

Did they email or mail you and interview date??

Hey! They emailed me my interview date. Not sure how they're doing it this year. Good luck!!!

anyone that has completed the online program have tips for how to study for the exams? I will be starting Patho soon. Did you do all the readings or focus more on the powerpoint?
