Licensing in Massachusetts

U.S.A. Massachusetts

I just want to know, does anyone know if an RN can practice in Massachusetts with a Florida RN License.

Or is there an exam or certification prior to working in Massachusetts?

I find this website very confusing.

How does one place a question? thread?

any help?

At the top of each page, and each board, are "buttons" you can click on to start a new thread. To reply to an existing post, merely scroll to the bottom of the post, and you will see a "quote" button (which, if you click it, will quote the entire post at the top of your new post). Or, you can click the "quick reply" button and no post will be referenced, just your own posted message.

You need an endorsement (sort of a rider to your existing RN license) to practice in any State in which you have not originally become licensed and registered. So no, you cannot work as an RN in MA with a FL license until you receive the endorsement from the FL State Board of Nursing. You will need to apply to the SBON to get this prior to employment.

There is no exam or certification requirement, just that the appropriate paperwork (and fees) be submitted to receive the endorsement to your license.

I am pretty sure you have to apply for reciprocity...I am actually doing it myself as we speak.

I went to school in RI so it was easier for me to just get my initial licensure there....I had to send a paper to the board of original licensure (RI) then they forward something to where I want reciprocity....(Mass) and I also have to send my application to PCS in Tennessee as if I were just applying...you know with the passport pic & answering questions about any criminal offenses and such. So now it is just waiting ..........I would go to the http://www.Mass.gov site & go to the nursing license area...that's what I did to find out exactly what I have to do...they have printable forms on there that's how I did it.......Good Luck!

In case I confused the heck out of anyone who knows I am in NYS, not MA: I replied to the original questions on a general board and a moderator moved the posts here. I don't typically haunt all the State message boards, lol.... :)
